May 7, 200917 yr Hi guys,I just downloaded Game Booster from http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html?Str=download. It seems to smooth out FSX. It is easy to use so even I can use it. Go get it and see what you think.Best regards,Bill "A good landing is one you can walk away from. An excellent landing is one you can taxi away from." May 7, 200917 yr Alacrity pc from Ken Salter I tried a couple of months ago.On my Vista 64 pc I got some " Fatal errors " when using it for FSX.I could not detect any difference when it worked : probably due to Vista's Superfetch.Yesterday I tried Gamebooster and I have to say that it works easy and quick.I have 4Gb of memory , but very detailed scenery and I am using the MD-11 with REX and ASA.When flying over certain area in the Netherlands with many small waters memory goes down to 700-800mb and the pc starts to struggle. The moment I used Gamebooster I noticed that the pc had a bit more breathing space.I will try again today ; perhaps I do nogt need to buy 2Gb memory extra. 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
May 7, 200917 yr Nice, convenient way to shut down unnecessary background apps before loading FSX. Thanks for the tip!Thaellar
May 7, 200917 yr I've been doing this manually on ocassion when running a lot of FPS hungry add-ons. Thanks for posting. -Scotty
May 8, 200917 yr Though i have not made a flight since installing this tool, but once i start it to do its stuff, my PC becomes near scary fast. Its Vista 64 @3.8Ghz Nvida gtx 285 6Gig RamOn my vista sytem it clears up all uneccesary tasks so pc becomes much faster. One great advantage of this tool is that, there no more need to go messing around with sorting out which vista services to disable on your system. This tool shuts down most uneeded stuff before you start your game. Once done playing just open the tool and set it to return to normal mode from gaming mode, and that is it.If i get less stutters using this tool, i might just give up my fpslimiter as well, and use this tool instead. For those who have not tried it, its very easy to use, so have no fear. Thanks for sharing this.
May 8, 200917 yr Commercial Member Just my 2 cents worth for some of the system specs I see posted in this thread I wouldn't see the need for a utility like this in the first place. Regards, Dave Opper HiFi Support Manager
May 8, 200917 yr I'd like to give it a try but I can't find a Dutch language version... Pity.After installing you while find that it is in Dutch too. 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0

(I am) which is fine, since they get along very well together :( Bert
May 8, 200917 yr Just my 2 cents worth for some of the system specs I see posted in this thread I wouldn't see the need for a utility like this in the first place. When you are running very FPS consuming craft with demanding scenery, a tool like this helps gain that little bit of overhead that makes all the difference. By the time you add REX clouds, traffic programs, ASA, PMDG or similar...well you get the idea. Tried it last night in a very graphic intensive area, with a heavy frame hitter and the results were promising. -Scotty
May 8, 200917 yr Wow, thanks for that link Bill. I'm not sure which background program causing my problems Game Booster is closing but it has made all the difference in the world for me. The stutters that I've been suffering from are now completely gone. Spent 7 flight hours in FSX with all settings maxed except for AI (70%) and I didn't get a single stutter even with the G1000. I can finally look forward to my nightly sim routine again. Jeremy "rightseater" Fletcher
