The thing is: RXP actually has a nice STEC55X autopilot packaged with their FLN gauges, but it does not have LPV capability.
Bert, that
Bert, that’s true. But this AP was developed long before the WAAS GNS and not bundled with it. But more importantly the real life STEC55X is not capable of WAAS FLV approaches. As far as I know…so correct me if I’m wrong. :)
That is actually not correct, it is. From the STEC55X Pilots Guide:3.5 Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) Procedures3.5.1 GPS Approach (With Vertical Guidance)For those aircraft equipped with the Garmin 400W/500W Series GPS NavigationReceiver or equivalent unit, when conducting a WAAS approach with the NAVGPSS mode engaged, the autopilot will execute the entire lateral approachsequence (i.e., intercept and track front outbound course, complete procedureturn, intercept and track front inbound course). In addition, the autopilot will execute the following vertical approaches:1. LPV (precision and LNAV/VNAV)2. LNAV+V (non-precision)Once on the front inbound course, the NAV APR mode must be engaged in orderto intercept and track either GPS glideslope listed above. The remainder of theapproach should be flown like a Straight-In ILSHaving said that, I'm really interested in your PID controller, since that is the most promising solutionI've run into! Pls check your PM and hopefully you can help me with this :(
