Captain Sim 76 Released

:) Yes please. I got the C130 at the last one. Best buy ever.
I would love the C130; unfortunately, my aviation expenditures are ridiculous for the past few weeks, and my time budget is even more outstripped. The only thing with any hours on it at all is the 757, the 727 has one real trip, I don't think I've done more than messed with my Level D 767 and I have an Ariane 737 I've so far proved too stupid to get off the ground. That with Coolsky's MD-80, PMDG's MD-11, Ejets, all of which I enjoy, too. And CLS's 747. Oh, and the Pilatus PC-12. Sometimes I feel more like a collector than a pretend pilot.Seems like it wasn't too long ago people were complaining about not having enough good FSX add-ons? Stop it, you're killing me.

Can anyone answer these?1) flex wings?2) cockpit click sounds still rely on that Creative Lab driver installed separately?3) bumpmaps?Cheers,Etienne
Sorry cannot answer these questionsI am holding off buying the 767 until I read more about it. I have had the cockpit sound issue since I bought the 757. Have you got a sound blaster card installed or have you installed the driver to remedy the problem. Thanks,Robert

When people talk about the sound problem, exactly what is it? No cockpit sounds at all? Sounds at beginning that disappear later? Some sounds there, some not? There are two fixes that I know of. The first is to make changes to the config file, the second is to make sure you have particular .dll. Beyond those I haven' t heard of anything. My sound problem is sounds might disappear after awhile; I never have cabin sign dings, for instance at cruise, and do not have an altitude alert. And that is with the two CS suggested fixes.

Hi Tim - Yes I have the disappearing switch clicking sounds after a few moments and there aren't any cabin announcements to speak of. It is too bad. I tried the sound.ini and .dll fix but that was all I could find. Once I purchase the 767 I will compare the two and have a good look at both sound configs and the .ini's contained in both aircraft folders. How do you like the 67 so far?Robert

I don't have the 767. The 757 is probably my favorite airplane, but I spent several weeks picking it apart for the review and I am giving it a rest. Oh, the LDS 767? I like it, but haven't spent a lot of time with it yet. I am just afraid the CS 767 would be so similar to the 757 I would not feel like I really am flying a different airplane.I wish someone could tell me why we have the sound problems in the 757. I've heard something about SoundBlaster... I dunno. Intermittent problems are the ones that drive me nuts.

I've got the cockpit sound problem with the 757 as well with an onboard soundcard. I've tried the fixes on the CS site with no luck and I submitted a ticket but I use Vista64 and was told they do not support my OS. TBH, Judging from the screenshots and posts so far it seems like CS just added the 757 VC & Panel to a new exterior model (which looks really nice!), but It makes me wonder if the config and air files are the same as well?

John

Well on the issue of the panels, the overhead is altered to be a 767 one but it is missing the fuel jettison.

On the sound issue:The problem I experienced, going back to the C130, has to do with how 3d sounds are used in the cockpit, and an underlying API that Creative Labs provides. This API is installed when the aircraft installs and provides surround sounds for clicks and what not. It is this API that is apparently problematic on Vista 64 and non-Creative soundchips and caused so many issues for me: either no sound, or a crash after a few minutes. There was no fix outside of purchasing a true creative lab card, not using my RealAudio chip.I don't have the 757 nor the 767 so I'm not sure if the no-cockpit sounds reported by some are related or not. CS was unable to provide a fix for me, Creative didn't have any updates to that driver at the time. I'm interested to find out if the same API is used for cockpit sounds that could cause what sounds like (pun intended), the same issue.Note that other sounds, such as engine sounds, are not affected as they come through the FSX engine.Etienne

Tigger like your really in any position to knock the product already give it a break and get off the gravy train.
that VC is from their 757, i know that because I have it and it spent four months being useless because they released with a show stopping bug.what exactly is the point of releasing a "beta" test plane with the VC from another plane in it? that would be none at all!another thing, "it's suppose to look the same"!!it's the same bloody thing, they're selling the same thing with a different name and exterior model. good grief!
