PMDG Troubles....

Featured Replies

Well 2 days ago when I did my flight from Midway to Phoenix Sky Harbor-I used the PMDG 737 (of course) and the entire flight went fine! No troubles! Anyway so today I try doing a flight from Phoenix to San Diego and I went choose the pmdg and when it went to the main fs load screen, my computer totally crashed! icon_e_surprised.gif All it said was "Loading Scenery objects". It didn't even go to 1%!I tried loading another aircraft and everything was fine! It's just the pmdg! icon_e_sad.gif If anyone has any potential explanation to whats causing this PLEASE help! I know it's totally unexplainable! It's driving me nuts

Please sign your name to posts in this forum. If the pmdg (or any complex airplane) is the default then that can cause problems with msfs loading. If you are trying to load a saved flight then maybe there is something wrong with the saved state, try creating a new flight. Other than that, there is usually an error message to provide a clue.

Ya there is no error message-my computer just crashes. I try to open a new flight-not a saved one-I create a flight try to load it and it crashes...-Jesse

Make sure you have only one FSUIPC.dll, the pmdg installer will install one in the modules folder but if you have a second FSUIPC.dll "anywhere" this could cause a problem. If you had a previous version of FSUIPC it should have been updated by the installer. Anyway, I think this is the only other reason I am aware of that could give you the symptoms you have. Either someone else in the forum might add ideas or you can email pmdg support... but first checkout this FSUIPC issue. Hope it helps.

Ok I'll check out the FSUIPC thank.

As I recall, the 737 install is very simple and quick. What about just trying a reinstall (after UNinstalling of course)?

Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)

You know I even tried that!!! I probably tried like EVERY possible way to load up the pmdg 737-700---but it just won't work!!So far here's what I've tried:-re-installing the pmdg & flight simulator-starting out with a default aircraft then loading the pmdg-installing new FSUIPC from peter dower

Hi Jesse,It would be useful to communicate your system setup (amount of RAM etc.)It's surprising (and in a way, encouraging) to see that you could fly the NG at least once !As I am no computer expert, I tend to stick to basic recipes and can only suggest some pretty simple things you may try (besides contacting PMDG support).Sorry if this is obvious and you have already tried them :- try first the registry repair tool (from Flight1)http://www.flight1software.com/files/FS_Registry_Repair.exe -remove or temporily disable all add-on sceneries-remove your FS9.cfg file and let fs9 rebuild oneCheers,Bruno

One thing I have not seen mentioned is Defragment your hard drive. I always defragment before I start FS and rarely have a problem. Before I started this habit, I found extremely long loading times, textures not loading, Flight controls not working properly. All of PMDG aircraft that I have seen are very complex models, and there is a lot to load when starting things up. If the files and pieces of files are scattered all over your hard drive, it can lead to extremely long loac times as the system tries to assemble what you need.John

Hi John,Can you explain a bit further how to defragment my hard drive? Thanks in advance.-Jesse

Yeah Jesse,You haven't said what operating system you are using, but if you are using Windows XP, you can click on start, all programs, accessories, system tools, and down to defragment files and folders. Once open click on the drive FS is installed on and click on defragment files and folders button or defragment. There is a button to analyze, but doing that first just adds to the confusion as the defragment button will analyze and defragment in one operation. Before doing this, I would also use the disk cleanup wizard found in the same manner except not in the defragment line.Windows does a FAIR job of defragmenting files and folders, however there are two programs I highly reccomend. CCleaner, which is free on line, just google that, and then to defragment I use Disk keeper. Disk keeper is not free, but does a very good job with defragmentation. There are others out there that are highly recommeded some payware, some freeware. If you browse through I think its the hardware forum here, you should be able to find out what people like and what they like about it. If you are using Vista, I am not totally sure where the system tools reside, but I am sure it is either in the start menue or in the control panel somewhere.I know that PMDG urges everyone using their products to keep their disks clean and defragmented.Hope this helps.John

I recall that PMDG (others too..) recommend O&O as the best disc defragmenting utility.
