Setting Up FPS_Limiter_0.2

Featured Replies

Does anyone have the FPS_Limiter_0.2 utility installed? It was suggested to me in a post and I just installed it but it has limited instructions. I used the GUI to set the path to FSX.exe, and have frames set to 30. When I click on "create bat" to create a batch file no batch file appears to be created in the directory where I have FPS Limiter installed. Any ideas on what's wrong?? I have Vista with SP 2. Also, I fun FSX with AlacrityPC. Can I use the Limiter with it? Thanks. Tom

You can use AlacrityPC with FPS_Limiter - just let AlacrityPC autostart the batch file instead of FSX.I don't have Vista (so I can't verify), but my guess is that the batch file is being created - just not shown. You may have to change the view settings for the folder where you have put FPL_Limiter.

Tom,Thanks for the help. I checked the folder where FPS Limiter is and as far as I can see, the folder is showing all files. I also did a search for *.bat files and nothing is showing up. Would the choice for D3D9, D3D8, OGL be a factor? I have no idea what this is without instructions but my setting is D3D9. Any other ideas??

What is the path to the folder ithat FPS_Limiter is installed in?? If its in the"Program Files" folder, the batch file will not be made as that directory is protected in Vista. D3D9 is the correct choice and FPS_Limter will only work with FSX in DX9 mode.

Sargeski,Thanks for the help. I think you got it! I put the folder in the Program(86) folder. What is the best place to put it? Thanks again. Tom

Sargeski,I am up and running with the batch file. It works fine when I click on it directly, but I'd like to use it with AlacrityPC so that it will start FSX after shutting unnecessaery programs down. I changed the startup profile from FSX.exe to the batch file exe. Alacrity shuts things down normally and then tries starting FSX with the limiter. It just loops back without starting FSX and starts the other programs and services back up. I tried changing the delay in Alacrity to 5 seconds. The system locked up and I had to reboot the system. Any ideas how to set up a startup profile for fsx in alacritypc with the fps limiter?? Thanks again for all your help. Regards, Tom

Thanks anyway, Bob. I was told that Alacrity doesn't like batch files anyway. I'd have to run it separately. Regards.Tom

I'm running Frame Limiter under Alacrity. It is a bit of a kerfuffle, but it works. The steps are these.1) Create a shortcut to the Frame Limiter .bat file on your desktop.2) Set Alacrity up with something as the Monitored Program. This can either be something you'd be loading anyway (e.g. ASA) or something very small that won't put an unnecessary overhead on your system (e.g. Notepad). As far as I can see, unless Alacrity has a Monitored Program, you haven't got anything to close at the end of the session to make Alacrity restart all the services.3) Run Alacrity in the normal way. Obviously it's not going to start FS set up like that.4) Once Alacrity has stopped running, type C to start Control Panel Applets. That will open your Control Panel. Press Alt + Up-Arrow until you can see your desktop.5) Use the Frame Limiter .bat shortcut to start Frame Limiter and FS.6) To shutdown, close FS, close Frame Limiter, close the Monitored Program and let Alactrity do the re-start.

Sorry an error on my part:4) Once Alacrity has stopped running, type C to start Control Panel Applets. That will open your Control Panel. Press Alt + Up-Arrow until you can see your desktop.should read:4) Once Alacrity has stopped running, type 0 (zero) to start Control Panel. Press Alt + Up-Arrow until you can see your desktop. The reast is OK I think!

To all,I have read this (and some other) threads about fps_limiter but I can't get it to work (I think)After the download, I unzipped the package to a temporary folder (outside Program Files) and I created a bat.file.Running this bat.file FsX starts so at least that part of the .bat is correct. However, when checking the frame counter, I notice that the frames bounce up and down between 31 and 41, even with fps_limiter on 30. The second indication is that no counter is displayed on screen, even if I enabled the counter in the GUI of fps_limiter.So now I wonder what could be wrong...?any suggestions?Luc BrusselmansBelgium
