Gruman Goose- Are Floats Drag Modeled?

Featured Replies

If I drop only one float on the Grumman Goose there is no change in handling. I would expect the aircraft to turn/tilt toward the side with the extended float??

Raw default Goose from Microsoft.

Just chirping in to observe that the OZx Goose is very beautiful (and free) so if you like the default Goose, you might want to consider checking out the HD version.

Why thank you both very much for those kind words on my/our work :)And to the orginal question no the float drag isnt modeled in either the default FSX goose or the Ozx HD mod this is due to limitation with in FSX (that is as far as i know after all im just the guy with the crayons ;) )CheersGizmo

Hey Gizmo, Wonderful work on the Geese. It is by far my favorite bird in FSX. One question though, since installing your art work, my default "Lower power" Geeses won't idle any more. I know from real world experience that cold radials don't like to idle, but once they warm up they are fine. I can't get mine to idle now no matter what. If I pull them back to idle, both engines just die. Any suggestions?GAC Savannah

One funny thing about the OZx Goose is that it is the only airplane my wife ever showed any interest in. I dragged a dining room chair over to the right of mine by the computer and said we were going to see Palma. She thought it was beautiful and for the first time, I think, appreciated what my hobby was all about as we flew over Aerosoft's Palma scenery in the Goose. I even put the eyepoint on the passenger side so she could look out the window at the windmills :-)

Hey guys Tim thats a great story i'll be sure to post it for the rest of the team to check out, again thanks for the kind words on the work glad we could bring you closer together hehe ;)@GACSavannah Sorry but im not much into the ins and out of the FM remodeling on the goose,im just the eye candy/art guy so can only be blamed for the normal mapping/VC/effects and 3 of the schemes....I can forward your question to Pam our Flight modeler but im pretty sure she try'ed to hammer this issue out durning beta and it was a case fix one thing break another so it was a kind of strike a balance situationNot sure what default is next on the Ozx HD chopping block,I myself am out of it as im on a bit of a Simming/deving hiatus still for the next few months due to other RL projects taking up my time, but im pretty we'll be tackling something else in the future we all have fav defaults we'ed like to see HD'ed and re Fm'ed (Beaver would be my personal fav followed my the maule)but what ever it is id like to expand the scope to include remade sound sets and maybe some scenery/missions how knowsAnyhow thanks again for the feedback its cool posts like the above that keep every freeware dev happy and at it :)CheersSteve AKA gizmo

Too bad the floats are not able to be modeled. But downloaded the Goose HD and the C152 HD. The C152 showed the most dramatic affect on my PC. Limited to 2048 with nVidia 8600 256mb.ThanksBatting%20Eyelashes.gif
