August 16, 200916 yr hi all, i know i recently posted that we simmers should be patient for the release of pmdg aircraft and i stand by this but this post is slightly different. several months ago there was a post about which platform people preferred, fs9 or fsx and i think fs9 cam out on top although i could be wrong. i appreciate the developers find fsx more suitable for their purposes but i see by the posts submitted that fsx has its pitfalls for some simmers despite it being regarded better than fs9, hence the new aircraft being developed are all for fsx, as a result the supporters of fs9 like me are being kept in the dark regarding the production of aircraft for fs9, the forthcoming 737ng2 is a case in point, which is really lagging in the time scale and i suspect the J41 and Dash could be released before the 737ng.2. i think pmdg should have the courage to say that from their point of view fs9 is no longer viable and will be discarded, that way, we would all know where we stand. richard welsh. At least that's what I understood.Kind regards,Bruno

August 16, 200916 yr hi Bruno, thanks for your reply but the crux of my post is that as far as i am concerned, i feel that pmdg are fully concentrating on fsx and that fs9 is on the skids. richard welsh.Hi Richard,It makes sense since FSX is the latest version of FS. It is a (marginally according to some) better version and - correct me if I am wrong - the only one a new simmer can buy in a store. But as there are hundreds (thousands?) of simmers who don't win much - and loose a lot - by switching over to FSX (for whatever reason), developpers like PMDG know that they have to take this into account. Kind regards,Bruno
August 16, 200916 yr there was a post about which platform people preferred, fs9 or fsx and i think fs9 cam out on top although i could be wrong.Yes, it came on top but at the same time actual sales receipt from MD-11 apparently showed 2:1 in favor of FSX. If you are a business unit you watch primarily sales and not polls which are never very scientific. Again, this is rehashing old posts - you could do better searching through this forum for FSX-FS9 discussions, it is really an old hat. PMDG said many times that FS9 version of NG2.0 is in their plans, what more do you expect? We definitely don't need another FSX-FS9 thread, it is getting tiresome. But ultimately you have NO control over what PMDG will do, what products they release, when and whether they change their minds (always possible) and do yet something else. Michael J.

So the FSX version of the MD-11 was activated twice for every FS0 activation. August 17, 200916 yr Hey John, no need to get excited. If you are bored to death by the topic -which is understandable - just switch to another thread. No need for censorship. Live and let live, man !Kind regards,BrunoI'd hope this can stay more civil than IX vs X :).I believe both sims have a Positive to offer Certain simmers, take your pick.what I would wonder though........there's an FS9 And FSX Combo........ Logically I'd think that FS9 Simmers would buy this in an effort to save money taken into consideration they might one day switch to FSX. How many of those Simmers actually switched?.if you took the poll and did this........FS9 Only And FS9+FSX Combo Vs. FSX Only.........how would the statistics look? :( PMDG Has Poor Data themselves in regards to Demographics regarding their FS9+FSX Combo.......the combo shows intent to move to FSX, But Reliance on FS9 for the time being. the FSX Only version is for those who pretty much use FSX, and FSX Only.Brain Food.
August 17, 200916 yr As a case in point, I bought the MD11 FSX and FS9 bundle pack. I installed and activated both but I only use FS9 because I cannot get satisfactory framerates with FSX, but in the future I may have a computer that can run it so I bought the MD11 bundle. So indeed, statistics may not tell the whole story of the popularity between FSX and FS9.Renzo Bill Miller
