PHNL for FS9!

Featured Replies

Hey Bill, I think you maybe on to something there. You know, I wouldn't have even looked at their site if it wasn't for you mentioning that they were discounting their products. I really don't fly to many of the heavy destinations and I already have most of what I wanted, so I haven't bothered to look at FSDT's prices in awhile. I like Mike's approach...wait and see if. Then you can decide if you want to throw that much money at a single airport, or instead, buy a terrain mesh for the entire world? Interesting stuff...MarkJust a note: What's up with Paul these days...hey Paul, complaining about people complaining is complaining too!

Excellent news I have been waiting years to replace my good but old and outdated Lago PHNL. A big plus is that they are planning to offer other airports on the islands again another big plus. This has been one area in FS that has needed a some good airports and FSDT is taking on the task as we have seen with the quality of ORD, JFK, FLL, and LAS we will be just as happy with the hawaiian package. I look forward to flying from SFO and LAX to Hawaii in detail :)John

I find it interesting that some will throw as much money as the sim costs for a single airplane (full systems, yadda, yadda). I'm one who can't justify the cost of a lot of payware aircraft, but I think getting both FS9 and FSX airports for $35 isn't a bad deal from FSDT. Especially when you consider the quality. And kudos to them for the discounts. Can't wait for Honolulu and...(Kahalui and Lihue?). Those island short hauls are great fun.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate that the discount was applied. When the economy was in better shape, I had no problems with their prices. The discount was a good way for people to try their product beyond the demo stage. It worked for me and I'm sure I'll be back at full price. I can't do much about the dollsr, but I do have to live with it. By the way, you could knock 30 % off the Ferrari and still shell out 210k. Good deal or not, who would want to buy it except for those that don't care? Lots of cash for a thrill!!!

Mark,Perhaps I am missing your intended sarcasm but...When did I complain about anyone or their opinions? I stated my countering opinion that I had no problem with their price but don't believe I complained about about anyone... I might have said I don't think someone's post was going to change the FSDT pricing model but again, what is wrong with that? I also gave examples of why I feel the way I do but for some reason you feel the need to point out everything I say and single me out so I must admit I am flattered... If only I could get the damn women at the bar to pay this much attention to me...-PaulPS, $35 for a scenery now seems really cheap after dropping what I did at the Yamaha dealer a few hours ago LOL... It is all relative and whatever makes you smile, you only live once!

Yeah, I do agree it would be nice to have updates to all the Hawaiian airports. Some one should remake all of them and include Molokai this time too. Isn't there only a dozen or so airports in the entire state? The good thing is that there are alternatives when you do feel that a company is charging too much for a product. This business about comparing one companies level of detail to another's can get dicey and really become a marketing agenda rather then an actual expenditure vs. product cost calculation. That is precisely why I am so guarded when I read about people who are recommending software that hasn't been tested or deployed yet. The stuff's not even finished yet and we're being enticed to have our fingers on the buy button and our credit cards ready. So sometimes, they only way to make an over priced product sell is to create a hype differential and hope that it sticks. I mean, selling a product is just that and if anyone tells you different then be very wary of them. Look at Apple, they've been claiming all along that there stuff is better then Microsoft's but it's 3 or 4 times as expensive. Then you find out that the iPod is made in Guangdong and the people that are making it are being paid 1 buck an hour you being to wonder how much does it cost Apple to make that 300.00 dollar iPod...hummm.Anyway, I'm so used to Mr. Melichar's wonderful scenery losing it would be kind of like losing an old friend. It's ironic, though it's not the most detailed scenery in the world, it really is fun and I think that's part of the point here...fun and family enjoyment and a reasonable cost…oh, and no hype allowed :)MarkFor Paul...If you can complain, so can I...isn't that fair?"No matter what FSDevelopers charge, people will always b*tch and people will always buy..."

If you got one of their crotch rockets, I'll say a prayer for you! Those things are indeed a thrill.

I am very excited about this one. As much as I think I dont long haul its all I seem to do. So I will fly to PHNL and then hop around the island. This will be a treat. On the record if people want to wait for reviews good for you, its your money spend it as you see fit, If you are like me and will get this as soon as it is releases be happy with that.

Mark,That wasn't a complaint it was a statement of fact, you are never going to please everyone... What is complaining about that? I am done with this ** for tat with you. If you don't want to buy it, don't but please stop nitpicking on every word I say and sidetracking this thread which was meant as a positive heads up for fellow simmers into some sort of personal vendetta against me and everything I say. You have REPEATEDLY singled me out and I find it totally uncalled for. We don't have as much to get excited about in terms of new releases for FS9 anymore so excuse me if I am pretty excited. I never posted anyone had to buy anything! First you complained this was marketing hype, then you were complaining about Carenado, then complaining about the price all the while continuously complaining about me and nitpicking on my individual words. Not sure what you are so sour about but man, try and find something positive...When PHNL comes out, everyone make their own decisions and enjoy it isn't even worth it to continue this thread, the mods should lock it...-PaulPS...Thanks Bill, I will take that prayer!!! It is actually a cross-over between a scooter and a crotch rocket. 500CC looks just like a crotch rocket but no center gas tank, storage under the seat and it is an automatic. I have had 6 major spinal surgeries including a full anterior/posterior cage fusion and don't have full control of my left foot and toes so I can't do the one up four down shifting anymore... But this thing is a blast :) The Yamaha TMax 500... Thanks again!

With our sceneries, there's no reason to wait for reviews made by other people, because we always offer a fully working Trial version that everyone can test on his own system.

I agree with you Umberto. The "try first " philosohy is a great marketing tool. You guys do great work' and again, I do appreciate the discounts.
