August 18, 200916 yr Saw the thread in the FSX forum but it has been confirmed for FS9 as well. Finally!!! An amazing PHNL scenery! And you know what comes next, AES support ;)Personally I can see my LDS 767 warming up for KEWR-PHNL direct as CO15 :)Just a heads up,-Paul Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

August 18, 200916 yr This is great news. I just hope it aligns with the MegaScenery already being used by many. I have tried for a long time to get PHNL correct with regards to proper runway usage and parking for Hickam AFB as well as the ANG area. Thanks for this post. I will be looking forward to this! August 18, 200916 yr Uh, hate to be a fly in the ointment here but how do we know it's a good scenery until one of us installs it and then tells the rest of the group? I mean, there could be a bunch of issues or none at all. I'd wait for the first real reviews by someone here before launching into a feeding frenzy :)Mark

That is like saying we need to wait and see if PMDG is going to do a good job or LVL-D or FlyTampa; with certain developers you just know it is going to be good.-Paul Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
August 18, 200916 yr I wholeheartedy agree with Paul; Certian developers simply 'get it right' EVERY time! I have all of the Flytampa sceneries, as well as the FS Dreamteam stuff (sans KORD) and a few other developers stuff as well. There are some that are very consistent and the quality always seems to get better and better with each subsequent release. Therefore, it is suitably easy to assume that this will be the best Hawaii scenery ever released for FS9 or FSX thus far. Period.
August 18, 200916 yr Never been disappointed with any FSDT release. Even though they actually make their scenerys for FSX, I think the airports are looking far better in FS9 than FSX. Rune B.
August 18, 200916 yr This is awsome! I will finally be able to get rid of the old and out dated Lago scenery I have been using for Honolulu.
August 18, 200916 yr As I said, I just don't want anyone to be mislead into thinking something is good or perfect before it actually is. Look at Carenado's latest release. It's had it's share of issues. I think that they will be worked out in the long run but many people are not buying the aircraft for a number of reasons. It's nice to see that people like a brand of software and publically buy it before it's available because of its branding. Companies want that more then anything, people who will simply buy something because of a company name. For the most part, I'm not like that, especially when something is in the pre-sales development arena. You never know what you're getting until you actually use it.So I'd still wait on the media blitz until it's been released. It then might be something that you want or possibly not be what you want?Mark

Especially in Fs9!! Hence the reason I never picked up the last release. To the contrary FSDT has been getting better and better for quite some time now. Their last few releases have been phenomenal IMHO, some of the best in FS. So until they disappoint us I will continue to give them the benefit of the doubt.Furthermore, the folks in this thread myself included are just excited FSNiners who have been asking developers to replace the Lago version of PHNL so many of us were stuck using for years now! So there is no media blitz just excited users informing each other of an upcoming release. So again, no media blitz...Personally, I find your perceived negativity completely unwarranted and will make up my own mind regardless but to each their own, we are all entitled to our opinions here, part of what makes these forums great... If you want to continue to counter our enthusiasm and warn others that it might not be good or perfect feel free... And yes, companies get our support because of their branding by repeatedly meeting or exceeding our expectations in terms of releases and support, hence all the developers I listed above. That is not restricted to FS either, it is why people expect the next IPhone to be good, and know a Ferrari will be good and are loyal to a specific airline or restaurant or brand of food... There is always a risk with everything....Your next anything can be bad but I prefer not to doubt people/companies unless/until they give me a reason to.So to those who share my enthusiasm and excitement, this should be worth waiting for :)-Paul Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
August 18, 200916 yr From reading the FSDT forums it sounds like FSDreamteam will be making other Hawaiian airports and not just PHNL.
August 18, 200916 yr Author Yeah, not everyone wants to do those long hauls to get there... Sort of like FlyTampa with St. Maarten and St. Barts.Just more to be excited about :)Thanks Joseph,-P Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
August 18, 200916 yr From reading the FSDT forums it sounds like FSDreamteam will be making other Hawaiian airports and not just PHNL.I'm super extremely excited to have phnl in development like many of you guys here I still use the lago hnl and Bill Melichars hawaiian airports so I almost jumped off my chair in excitement and to make it even better, just like you mentioned Joseph, planing the other airports in Hawaii, after so many years waiting. now people can do the island hops which should be great fun.The developer originally created the lago version many years ago and was one of the first gmax scenery available at the time with the best frame rates possible. August 19, 200916 yr I might be an echo to a previous post but I can't imagine FSDT doing KORD and KLAS to the detail and quality they did and flopping on Honolulu. I hope the FS9 version comes along well for those who still use FS9. Even though I have switched to FSX I have been tempted to keep an active FS9 install because of all the work I previously did for multi-runway operations on PHNL which was more or less an investment of time and effort and whenever I use the FSX default PHNL, I lose an appetite I once had for flight the islands. Even if we are just getting a few screen shots now, I anticipate never needing to load my LAGO PHNL again. I'm moving along and will probably re-invest time and effort into an AFX or ADE with all the the proper airline codes and military parking at Hickam AFB and the ANG ramp. I also anticipate a requirement to reposition a few things here and there so that it matches the MegaScenery since not every user of FSX or FS9 will have this addon. This should keep things exciting for awhile.Hopefully we can keep the info exchange clean and enlightening on this one. I think there will be a lot of good discussions on the possibility of multi-Hawaiian airports. Happy waiting to all! Keith Guillory
August 19, 200916 yr The thing we want to be wary of is being consumers. Personally, I'm not a consumer, I'm a person. So being a person, I would not like to give up the only control I have, which is where I spend my money. Companies spend tons or time and cash trying to break that down so I spend on impulse rather then on what I actually need. The enjoyment becoming the spending of money rather then getting something that is actually useful or even wanted in some cases. So while I'm like all you guys, it would be great to have every airport in Hawaii, (I fly there often), I think that we can be doing a monumental injustice to ourselves when companies find out that we're dumb enough to do their advertising for them. Geeze, they haven't even released the thing and we're already hailing it as the next greatest thing to the wing!So I think we need to make sure that they work for us and not the other way around. Otherwise, they're going to do what ever they want and never include a 2D panel when they make new aircraft because they don't have to. They have their fingers on the impulse of flight sim consumers.Mark
