September 12, 200916 yr One of the cockpit noises is a constant ticking sound when avionics are on. What is this?
September 12, 200916 yr I would like to know too. It gets very annoying after a while. It seems to get louder and louder and louder. lol!glen
September 12, 200916 yr Commercial Member Well, based on some other planes I've worked on, it sounds like an avionics fan but I'm sure someone with more JS41 knowledge knows. Kyle Weber (Private Pilot, ASEL; Flight Test Engineer)Check out my repaints and downloads, all right here on AVSIM
September 12, 200916 yr It sounds like the BDHI's on our H-60's. This has digital screens for the heading/course and all that so I don't know what would be making the ticking noise. Would have to be some kind of analog gauge though. Doesn't bother me cause I am used to it I suppose. September 12, 200916 yr I believe it's the vibrator for the stand-by altimeter. It keeps the altimeter from sticking on climbs and descents (I think).

If you don't like it, edit the wav file to silence, but do note that this sound is realistic and is present in the real cockpit. September 12, 200916 yr Is it the same ticking sound thats on the B744? If it is, that would explain why the B744F doesnt have it... Bryan Richards "People depend so much on automation that they forget how to get the automation to work." B.W.
