November 8, 201015 yr Hi MichaelLet me have another look around to see what I can come up with on this one, at present I cant promise anything except that I will try my best to see what I can come up with, and thanks for the links, they will come in handy.Take care, and back as soon as I can.Jim Hodkinson-
November 12, 201015 yr Hi Jim, Thanks for the great repaint works I have seen here, I have downloaded several of them. I was wondering IF PERHAPS when you came around if you could do a J41 repaint resembling this Nature Air livery? Nature Air is a Costa Rican airline especialized in regional flights, they only have Twin Otters and I don't know what else but I love their lvieries. Actually they have several variants, I think they even paint each a/c with a different scheme with a "nature" Theme.ThanksEmilio E.G.Freelance IT Consultant www.PanamaVibes.com | www.lordofwingsPTY.com | www.coralys.com @aviationweb
November 13, 201015 yr Hi EmilioI did have a look at these colour schemes some time ago, the problem was finding a good enough photograph of the fuselage graphics to be able to use it on a repaint, it is a similar story to the Taipans colour scheme requested a while ago, no good shots of the graphics, I will have another look but at present I in all honesty can not promise anything on this one, sorry about that, but as I said I will have another look around, you never know.Jim Hodkinson
November 15, 201015 yr Hi EmilioI did have a look at these colour schemes some time ago, the problem was finding a good enough photograph of the fuselage graphics to be able to use it on a repaint, it is a similar story to the Taipans colour scheme requested a while ago, no good shots of the graphics, I will have another look but at present I in all honesty can not promise anything on this one, sorry about that, but as I said I will have another look around, you never know.Jim HodkinsonThey have some nice pictures on their Gallery page (www.natureair.com) but unfortunately those are also not from close enough to get enough resolution. This one I posted is the best I found (Airliners.net) but as you said not a good shot for repaint. I have written to them in hopes they can provide me with some high quality shots of their a/c. Their themes are as lively as Air Moorea (seen on Twin Otters too). E.G.Freelance IT Consultant www.PanamaVibes.com | www.lordofwingsPTY.com | www.coralys.com @aviationweb
November 17, 201015 yr Hi EmilioSorry for the delay in getting back to you, but if you do get a reply that includes the graphics, or a way to get hold of them, then we are off and running.Let me know how you get on.Take care, and have fun.Jim Hodkinson
November 22, 201015 yr Hi Jim, Unfortunately only the gallery images (not good enough) are available. I contacted them by email in Spanish (so there shouldn't be a language problem) and got no response. The typical situation with most latinamerican websites, their companies have web presence but rarely -if ever- answer email inquiries coming via the website. I just can't understand that attitude. November 22, 201015 yr Hi EmilioSorry to hear the bad news on the graphics front, but you are not alone, there are one or two colour schemes I would like to do myself that involve some complicated scenery graphics on the fuselage and tail, but it is as you have found, next to impossible to get hold of the correct graphics, you can possible get one that is close, but that is about it.Take care, and I know how you feel about the graphics response.Jim Hodkinson
November 22, 201015 yr Wow, can't believe I never stumbled into this topic before looking for JS4100 repaints. Quite amazing work Mr. Hodkinson. I've started my own (fictional) repaint for an Air New Zealand regional Jetstream, based on their B1900 livery. I think I downloaded one of your repaints for Air Nelson ANZ but I wanted something that fits in more with the big boy liveries for ANZ ;). It's close to complete, but I can't seem to get the nose gear doors right. I would think they would be covered by the shading included in the clean and dirty templates, but they keep turning out a different color from the rest of the belly.Quick preview by the way:Edit: Just noticed that the Dirty fuselage kit doesn't include the nose gear doors in the Photoreal Multiply layer, where as the Clean kit does. I copied over the doors sections from the clean kit to my dirty ANZ one and the results are better. Still a bit off though... Needs some tweaking.
November 22, 201015 yr Hi JasperFirstly thank you for the kind comments it is really appreciated, and as for the preview shot, well what can I say it is looking really good, and don’t take it to hard about the nose gear doors, I always have a bit of an issue with those, for the colour of the doors I usually pick the colour from the texture sheet at the very bottom of the cut-out area for the doors, but I still end up playing around with the actual shade, in fact for any all white repaints I have a base file that has that and the main gear doors already shaded to the correct level so I don’t have to play around to much with those.By the way, welcome to the repainting ranks, and from the preview shot you are going to get a lot of requests heading your way.Take care, and have funJim Hodkinson
November 25, 201015 yr Hi DaveI did make a version of the Yeti scheme and uploaded it to Avisim , but I was never very happy about the finished product, so I made another version which I have somewhere on my archive system, so if you could give me a while I could dig it out for you if you like and post a download link for the files, which thinking about it I may as well do anyway, just in case.Take care, and back as soon as I can.Jim Hodkinson
November 25, 201015 yr Hi DaveI managed to dig out the Yeti colour scheme and have uploaded the new files, so if you want to take her for a spin to see if she is what you were after, then here is the download link for the files..http://www.filefront.com/17559465/J41_Yeti_03.zipThe usual always applies, any changes or updates that you may need, then just let me know and I will tyr my best to assist.Take care, and have fun.Jim Hodkinson
November 26, 201015 yr looks real nice Jim!Although i would make the yellow more gold maybe use photoshop's noise filter to add some white speckles to make it metallic? An the engines are definitely black.www dot airliners.net/photo/Yeti-Airlines/British-Aerospace-Jetstream/1341279/L/How about this for a big flag?http://flagpedia.net/data/flags/ultra/np.pngAlso a question, i tried to paint a FSX plane and because im on 64bit Win7 the nvidia plugin for photoshop doesn't work. I paint the bmp normally in photoshop save as 32bit then convert to .dds in BMPdxt but the plane is all black in FSX, any ideas?
November 26, 201015 yr Hi DaveThanks for the comments, they are appreciated, as for your black aircraft troubles, I have to admit that on my Vista 64bit machine I have the Nvidia plugin so I have never experienced this one, the only thing that comes to mind is (a) what are you using for the Alpha layers, and (:( how are you constructing the spec layers, although I think that the first really has nothing to do with what you are seeing, but you never know, and in any case you can always “borrow” an Alpha layer of two from the PMDG files to test the theory.Just thinking about it though, I did once have an all black aircraft after repainting her, but that was the MD-11 and I found that I had not put in the Apha layer, so she was using the generated one of overall grey, but I don’t think that you get this with the J41.Other than this I as I say have no idea when it comes to Win7, although it really should not be all that different, sorry about that.I really do hope you get you issue resolved though, maybe someone with Win7 experience could jump in with a possible culprit.Jim Hodkinson
November 26, 201015 yr I think its something to do with my Nvidia GTS450 as the drivers dont support the plugin now, i think i read that on the nvidia forums.
