December 6, 200916 yr Good luck man, spend away. Come back and let us know if you get your 20 FPS.SeanSome how, I think your being rude (Aplogises if im wrong) But would I get the 20FPS with my current system specs?
December 6, 200916 yr Believe it or not, when he tested FSX head to head on both systems with the same setting in FSX, his dual core E8600 actually ran FSX smoother and faster. This does seem to be the case. I run a quad but only operate FSX on two of the cores because it runs faster and smoother on two cores than it does on four. Shutting off two of the cores to FSX is in fact the best "tweak" I ever applied to it. Bill Casey
December 6, 200916 yr Execuse me, what makes you think I am not competent? That was about one of the rudest comments I have ever seen, and I can't imagine what would cause you to make a comment like that. You don't know me from a hill of beans Bruno and I am very offended by your response. Sean CampbellHello Sean,Please re-read my post and I hope you'll understand no insult was ment.I first wrote :"I am by no means an expert"so when I later wrote : "As I mentioned above, I am not sure so I'd be glad if someone more competent could jump in and take over". I meant "more competent than I am". Apparently the meaning was obvious to me but not to you. Sorry about that. But maybe you could have asked for clarification before jumping to the conclusion that you had been insulted.A lesson for both of us? :( Best regards,Brunoking of the hill ...of beans
December 6, 200916 yr Moderator Some how, I think your being rude (Aplogises if im wrong) But would I get the 20FPS with my current system specs? No worries man, I didn't mean that to sound rude. I didn't have anything to add so I was just wishing you luck and wanting to have you post back when you built the system and let us know if you got the desired performance. You would probably be able to get the 20 FPS you desire in some areas, but you will most likely have to dial back the AI traffic, cars, airport vehicles, cloud draw distance, and maybe scenery complexity. When you are flying in the middle of no where 20 FPS should be no problem, but flying into a major hub like KJFK, KLAX, or a major hub of that size with settings cranked up, 20 FPS will be a problem. That's why if you want to be able to crank of the scenery, traffic, and AI, your going to need to raise your core clock speed a bit. The higher the better. I used to run by E8400 at the stock 3.0 and now run it at 3.85 and believe me,it makes a huge difference if you want to a better looking scenery with more headroom for the dense areas. I wouldn't get to hung up on the video cards. If you get a GTS 250 or anything like that, or faster, it will be all you need. Your not really going to get an FPS increase from the video card, unless you have one that is really too slow, not enough memeory, or failing.Anyways, I wouldn't be overly concerened about the FPS and long as the flight is smooth. You would be surprised how smooth FSX can run even if you are down to 16 FPS when on final into a major hub.Good luckHello Sean,Please re-read my post and I hope you'll understand no insult was ment.I first wrote :"I am by no means an expert"so when I later wrote : "As I mentioned above, I am not sure so I'd be glad if someone more competent could jump in and take over". December 6, 200916 yr You're welcome, Sean.Take care,BrunoKumbaya for all.I look forward to the day I can upgrade my dual core e6600 with GTS 250 to something more powerful and finally take advantage of FSX's ability to render an awesome sim to a point I have yet to experience. You know, they would pump out flight sims 2 PC upgrades ahead of your schedule. LOL, now many of us have a chance to catch up.
