My budget lets say $900 - $1200(US Dollars). I am in UK so don't have the benefit of some US outlets. In that range go- best followed by- next best (if you don't mind) and I will see what that translates to when sourceing the products in UK. I have loked at some barebones systems but want to make sure the system will be good with FS9.e.g.Processor Intel Core i5 750 2.66GhzMemory 2 x 2Gb PC-10666 Memory (4Gb)Case ATX Black Gaming Tower CasePower Supply 750w ATX Power SupplyMotherboard Intel P55 Chipset MotherboardFor about

OK Please suggest a list of components - remembering I am in UKWilliam
If you look at the 2nd computer (MSI-P55) in my post signature, it is well under the $1000 (US) budget in your first post. An i5-750 Intel processor would save $75-$100 (US). All of these components are aimed at mainstream, budget conscious computer builds. There are even lower cost CPUs that are adequate for FSX (dual or quad core). While I know game computer builders in the US that can meet your budget, I don't know what is the best option in the UK. Sorry.

William, that second option looks pretty good. Do you know is that an Intel brand motherboard though? Often times 3rd party board makers provide more bang for your buck, so to speak. Also, what video card are you looking at? I'd suggest a GTX 260/275 if it's in your budget.

Red, Art and Techguy thank you very much. I am reading yourreplies with much interest. i haven't a clue about comp specs so I am completely depending on your advice.Techguy - not sure about motherboard save for its name. I can ask the shop any relevant questions when they open tomorrow. Currently 5.30 p.m. here in UK.Keep the advice coming. The site I am looking at is Novatech (.co.uk I presume) maybe you could have a look there for me please.William

Red1, thanks for that. I'm wanting to run FSX as well, as the team I run with are planning to move onto that in a few months time. I've heard the E8500 is good. I'm considering the i7 920 overclocked to maybe 3.5Ghz for better future proofing. I have the GTS250...but can go higher if deemed necessary, good quality 800 ? psu, and whatever high quality cooler you guys advise.Russell.

Now there seems to be 2 of us in the mix. Hey Russell you are confusing things on this thread.William

OK, I'll drop out. Good job you're not a real pilot if you confuse so easily.Russell.

RussellThanks for that. Normally one shouldn't hijack threads. I was suggesting you could be confusing the issue with both of us having considerably different budgets. If the budgets were even close then your inputs and replies(and mine) would have been very helpful to both of us. But your budget is almost twice mine. This to me would indicate the need for a separate thread. No offence intended.William

Wow. Totally uncalled for. The OP is right, you should start your own thread. I'm sure you'll get the help you need.

OK, I apologise. I always understood highjacking was taking the thread off on another subject. I joined in because I was wanting similar information, so it seemed pointless to start another thread on the same subject. I thought thats what open forums were for. Actually William, I was hoping someone was going to tell me I had no need to spend that kind of money. The more budgets quoted, the better idea we have of what we can, or can't have, i would have thought.Russell.

Whoa, there's absolutely no need for that. I'm going to call that a personal attack and we shall consider this a warning.

I've already apologised to the OP. I really could'nt see where any confusion was caused, but realize i should have worded my answer differently. It was said tongue in cheek, but obviously, the recipient can't see the smile on your face. No offence intended William.Russell.

No problems. I hope we both get a cracking good system that runs FS the way we would like. These guys who are helping us are first class so here's hoping. Peace and goodwill and Happy christmas to all.William

Yes you did, and my gratitude for that. I'm going to go ahead and remove that warning from our files and consider this a momentary lapse of judgment. I wish it were always this easy.

As i said, you can get my current system or similar to run fs9 very well and for a lot less then 1000 dollars let alone pounds. If your only goal is to have a computer fast enough for fs9, dont worry about the i7s. Get yourself the e8500 dualcore, or go for the quad core if you'd like, but really not necessary for fs9, a 9800 series graphics card, a matching motherboard for the CPU, 4 gigs of memory running at least 800Mhz, and at least a 500-600watt PSU(brand name). I'm sure people below me will be more specific with parts, but thats really the rough outline of what you need.
Red's right. I missed that you are wanting to run FS9 instead of FSX. His recommendation is actually excellent for FSX as well as FS9 if you decide to try it.I'm not a UK shopper, but pcspecialist.co was the only website I could find where I could configure a computer the way I want it. Their best value system for FS9 seemed to be with an AMD Phenom II X4 945 CPU and 9800GT graphics card for 569 delivered.
