December 14, 200916 yr Hi Max - I am thinking about driving down on Tuesday from Vancouver, where would be a good spot to see the maiden flight? \Robert Hamlich/
December 14, 200916 yr Hi Max - I am thinking about driving down on Tuesday from Vancouver, where would be a good spot to see the maiden flight? The airport sucks for places to spot especially on a maiden flight day because it is on it's own plateau. I will be on the ramp at where our airplane airplane is and probably watch from there. Won't be too much of a view because it is on the intersecting runway but it should be better then hiking a couple miles to sit on a fence. Chris Miller

I'm planning on going to the grass field in front of the Hilton (?) hotel. This is next to the Future of Flight Museum on the NW corner of the airport. Apparently, there will be an area set up near the tower for watching, but I haven't heard much. BTW: the Future of Flight museum is a great place to spot, but unfortunately they are charging $250 per person to be on their roof/deck for the first flight! It's a lot and they had to be bought today. I can guarantee you that it will be packed no matter where you go.
December 15, 200916 yr I guess the weather is still looking a little rough, but here's a link to watch a broadcast...http://787firstflight.newairplane.com/ffindex.htmlWheel release "scheduled" for 1800 UTC sharp, however as we know, the weather may be a factor.
December 15, 200916 yr ^^^^^^The above link from Boeing is now live and active as they prep for the flight... a bit of a delay, but so far, so good.
