The Duke has a service pack 1 release. Are you using this service pack?I just checked my Duke, haven't flown it in a while, and the lights are not to be seen.Control + Shift + some of the NumPad keys can move the one of the lights a tiny bit, but something definitely needs to get fixed.Their support is nothing to brag about.

I just found a while ago these instructions and I just tried them and they work!1. Open REX2. Go to OPTIONS3. Click DE-Select All on the bottom right4. Under the LIGHTS area, make sure to SELECT Landing LightsSo basically the ONLY things selected is now ONLY landing lights5. Click SAVE6. Go to THEME CREATION7. Click on Sun/Lighting area8. Click on the LANDING LIGHTS Tab9. Select Golden INTENSE10. Click SAVE11. Now click INSTALLSo what you just did was tell REX that you ONLY want to install theLanding Lights. That is the only texture installed and will NOToverwrite any other textures.

REX 2 has a specific for the Duke in the lights section.I use it myself, I can see where I'm going now.Stu

McCrash,I think before you post the above it might be helpful if you checked some basic facts:1) Prominently and clearly mentioned in our Duke PDF guide is an issue with lights for those that have installed other addons which globally change the UV points and default files for landing lights. Two of the three other developers who did this change now have a patch which specifically fixes their own alteration of the Duke landing lights. Did you read the Duke Guide when you purchased?2). The Duke's lights work perfectly with a standard FSX installation, whether SP2 or not. 3) This issue has been discussed here before and we posted, more than once, that this issue is NOT caused by us, and we also pointed people to the patches issued by REX and X graphics. I repeat, these issues are NOT of RealAir's making.4). On the question of support, as many people here will know, we respond to support requests extremely quickly, and over nearly a decade have never failed to respond to e-mail requests within 24 hours except when there have been server problems or when the user has filtered our return e-mails. Our typical response time is anywhere between 5 minutes and a few hours and we NEVER, EVER fail to reply. In the light (excuse pun!) of the above, I think you owe us an apology. Thank you.Rob Young - RealAir Simulations

Hi L'miare,We think, as do many others, that the default light intensity of both Taxi and Landing Lights are miles too bright in FSX. In order to cut down the very brash triangle of light emitted by default lights, we somewhat toned them down and most of our customers like this. Best Regards,Rob Young - RealAir Simulations

Yes, I finally found that info at the REX website.

1). See below for reference to your guide about 'checking facts'. What other product developers have an aircraft lighting fix? I may or may not have these products and the odds are that I wouldn't know about any problems unless I used these products.2). When I first used those instructions I mentioned they fixed the lighting problem. BUT after the next cold boot they no longer worked, so I re-installed FSX with SP1, SP2 and the Duke with its service pack (the current release from Flight1), and the lights are NOT ok on my system. Note REX is not installed and I don't use XGraphics. However I do use GEX and UTX and they where installed (but not modifed) before the Duke was installed. When installing the Duke I answered 'Yes' for realistic lights. Could this be my problem with DIM landing/taxi lights? What does choosing 'realistic lights' actually do?3). I read through this thread and I don't see where I was depicting Realair as being a problematic product, and I have recommended the Duke as a nice add-on to FSX many times in many forums over many moons.4). As far as support I tried twice not to long ago to contact Realair and received no response therefore I see no need to apologize. However if your support has gotten better then that will surely be appreciated by the community.let's add 5). More and more these days when people are having discussions about products the developers jump right in to defend their products. This is ok until it actually turns the thread into a flame war. I hope this doesn't happen here.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The below comments about lighting in your documentation I did not notice any mention of DIM landing/taxi lights nor UV points nor default files, just positioning.FROM THE DUKE FLYING GUIDE ...Beech Duke B60 for FSXKnown IssuesWe have tested the Duke extensively with a wide range of systems and are confident that the only bugs are related to problems beyond our control.Below is a list of known issues:

Just a reminder, your email may have went into a SPAM folder or something. I know my gmail address has done that before with other developers. I have had no problems with RA answering my emails.

RealAir has been very responsive when I have contacted them. No complaints here. I don't have problems with the lights on it either.

Hi McCrash,Regarding support you say you contact us a long time ago but received no reply. This is simply not possible except in very rare circumstance:. In nearly ten years we have never failed to respond to a single bone fide customer e-mail that we have received. Either your mail did not reach us, or the most common explanation is that our replies were filtered out by your spam filter. We do not have a spam filter, which means that each and every mail received is manually filtered, never automatically.I'm sorry to hear you say you re-installed FSX and you say the Duke still has lighting problems. The only three issues ever reported are:1) Users of REX V1 but we have been in contact with Tim who kindly provided a fix for users of REX 22) Users of X-graphics whose developers also arranged by mutual agreement to post a fix for their product.3) Users of the DA Cheyenne which as far as we understood had globally changed lights and I am not sure if currently they offer an option, fix, patch or alternative. No user who does not use the above products has ever reported a problem with the Duke's lights, and the only issue ever raised was our slight dimming of taxi and Landing Lights about which the vast majority of our customers say they are happy with. We cannot force people to read our carefully prepared Guide which refers to lighting problems being solely linked to third party apps.EDIT: There are no options for what you describe as "realistic lights" in the Duke config panel because all we have done is very slightly dim them in response to requests and views from our customers that they hated the over-bright default lights. In all other respects they are the same as default lights. It is possible that in the latest version of GEX there could be a global change to aircraft lights, but my understanding was that this addon addresses only ground and other scenery lighting, not aircraft lights. I stand corrected if I have this wrong. I mentioned UV points because I am guessing that this is what other apps are doing, possibly, to the light sources within the bmp file that textures the light beams. These adjustments alter default aircraft to show a different shape and position of beam. We could I suppose use just default lighting but we have many e-mails appreciating the slight dimming effect we've implemented. Regarding version number: There is a prominent note on the front page of our website which has been there for several months stating:"The SP1 update files are included in all Duke installs downloaded after the 28th May 2009. If you bought the Duke after the 28th of May, you do not need to download the separate SP1 patch. To check whether your Duke installer includes the SP1 update files, run the Duke installer, and on the Welcome screen have a look at the title bar at the top of the installer window. If it says '07.1.10 (SP1)' your installer includes the SP1 files." We are currently testing a new patch which adds more features and extends the already detailed integration of RXP gauges. This patch has taken months to prepare but it does not include any lighting adjustments because the current lights work fine and have received no complaints and no issues raised apart from the case of not noticing the paragraphs within the Duke Flying Guide. Perhaps we should change that paragraph to be the first thing you read and in a font size of Ariel Bold 66! Nor have we received any requests via e-mail to change the way our lights work. If you are unhappy about this you have every opportunity to e-mail whenever you wish, quoting your user details.I hope that clears up everything. The e-mail response time is currently at the same level it has always been, and we even have had a limited support service running on each public holiday, christmas day, new years day and a normal service over every weekend, including Sundays. I don't quite see how much more we could do.Rob - RealAir
