January 1, 201016 yr Good day,I used to enjoy PSS Dash-8 and 747 in the old days before my computer decided it would no longer work. I have now a Windows 7 system and FSX recently installed. Looking for recommendations for a Dash 8 and a 747 similar to what PSS offered back then and not too computer resources intensive. Thanks for your suggestions,Raymond...
January 1, 201016 yr PMDG has a B747, actually you can find it at Best Buy for much cheaper than online download. I think its 30 bucks at BB and 70 online from PMDG.They also happen to be working on a dash 8 but we wont see that one for a long time. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

Just don't want to kill my system :( Thanks,Raymond...
January 1, 201016 yr Does the PMDG B747 has a huge impact on FSX performance? Just don't want to kill my system :( Thanks,Raymond...It depends on what your system is. I have it running on an i7-920 with 6GB of RAM and a GTX285 - works fine. Scott
January 1, 201016 yr I don't have it but from what I've heard it does have an impact on FPS, so for people with systems like mine you might want to turn down some settings. There once was a few users from this forum that created a chart with relative frame rate of different FSX aircraft. I think it was lost in the avsim haxs.... but it would show FPS relative to the default CRJ etc etc | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

One that has a good deal of realism with extensive functionality. I could fly my short haul routes nicely with one.Any thoughts?? I could fly my short haul routes nicely with one.Any thoughts??Why not do a search through the sites of the various vendors? Or AVSIM's own review section? You'll quickly get a feel for the main contenders - what's hot and what's not. Though I don't have it myself, popular opinion would indicate that the PMDG BAe JS-41 is probably the answer to your realistic, high-fidelity and extensive functionality turboprop needs.. Ian

IanThe pmdg does look rather good. But I'm also torn by the majestic dash 8 too. Has anyone got any info on either in terms of how good they are in use? January 3, 201016 yr oopsediting since i didn't read the whole threadi have flown both the majestic dash 8 and the pmdg js41 quite extensively.the dash 8 cockpit isn't so pretty (looks sorta like an fs9 plane to me) but the exteriors are nice and the flight model is very fun to fly. the systems simulation is quite deep and has a cool engine model. the audio is by far the best sounding engines i've heard in any fsx aircraft (they use a proprietary technique)the js41 is pretty much state of the art in terms of cockpit and is also really fun to fly. it also has a unique engine model due to the fixed gear and is fun to learn. i really think they are both excellent aircraft and would recommend them highlycheers, andy crosby

I'll look more closely at those 2 planes.Best Regards,Raymond...It depends on what your system is. It is not quite as elegant as the top-shelf payware but it has what you need, flies very well and you can't beat the price. Lose not thine airspeed, lest the ground rise up and smite thee.
January 13, 201016 yr the dash 8 cockpit isn't so pretty (looks sorta like an fs9 plane to me)More like an FS2002 plane - I find the panel barely usable. The JS41 is a great simulation, but be aware that it does not have a 2D panel (but a great VC). It also does not model failures, something that you do get with the Majestic Dash 8 (the types of failures simulated depends on which version you get).
