January 23, 201016 yr Can you not read? Why is most everyone giving their opinions on whatever instead of doing what the development team at PMDG are asking you to do in this thread and for your own benefit(!), which is, and I quote PMDG: I've started a thread on the AMD Game forums, which the driver team does read, so what I'd ask here is that people go and add their support to the initiative by posting in the thread so that they see it's not just one person requesting fixes here http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm...p;enterthread=y Now go to that forum and say what you need to say to ATI about the bugs that have been bugging YOU instead of wasting BW here.- jahman.
January 23, 201016 yr What a completely inappropriate response...Forums are for discussion. Everyone is free to voice their opinion here.
January 23, 201016 yr Not inappropriate at all!Recall the nature of the thread: A request to post your pet ATI driver bugs on ATI's forum. Not much to discuss here, except perhaps whether or not the request itself is appropriate, or perhaps how the request could be made more effective.I don't see any merit to discussing ATI driver bugs and whatnot in this particular thread as each known bug has many threads of their own in this forum, but discussing the bugs here seems to dilute the call of action to mosey over to the ATI forum and post there, so ATI will prioritize and fix those bugs, which is the point of the excercise. But last time I checked few have bothered to do so (Why? Enlighten me!), and more BW is being wasted here unproductively rather than on ATIs forum where it counts.Keep enjoying your ATI Driver bugs. jahman.
January 23, 201016 yr I think the reason would be people being too lazy to register to the forums, just to say: "Yes, i think so too." Thats btw what i think too.
January 24, 201016 yr Author Commercial Member I've added a link to ATI's Catalyst Crew feedback form now too, please fill out an issue report there as well. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
January 24, 201016 yr I do not get any of the problems reported here, so I am not sure what the specific problems are. I do not notice screen tearing. I get 20+ FPS in clouds most of the time, and this is with grahpics Above Ultra High, Adaptive AA and AF are working for me...I support your efforts though. I recommend everyone download the latest ATITrayTools BETA and experiment with it a little bit.Keep the conversation civilized and calm. Why must people shout on their 1st response? We already read the first post. If we did not why would we bother looking at the thread? January 24, 201016 yr Ryan, I'm thinking whether it would be effective, the Flightsim community (AVSIM site for example) or Add-on developers to convince several hardware benchmarking sites (Anandtech, Tom's HW, Guru3d, hardocp) to re-include FSX SP2 in their benchmarking tests - no to mention to include some Add-on Aircraft. They [the sites] may claim that FSX is an old game, but probably, they never read AVSIM HW related forums. Sam Sam. Waiting for the 64-bit PSION Flightsim for ZX-Spectrum ////
January 24, 201016 yr Thanks, added my feedback. To gman, agree on ATI Tray Tools. Been using it for years. It does alleviate some of these image problems, but ATI Catalyst/CCC should support FS9/FSX better (IMO).
January 25, 201016 yr Commercial Member I hate to say it but i think you might be just wasting your time on getting ATI/AMD to fix these problemsI already tryed getting the AVsim community to use catcrew feedback to report issue's with FSX to AMD in Feb last yearhttp://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=243274&hl=I even started a thread at Rage 3d ATI biggest fan site months before that (sept 2008)http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33931418To complain about the performance of my then 4870 in FSX id even been reporting it month after month via catcrew feedback since the first day i got my 4870 (launch week)Pretty much everytime i brought up ATI's issues with FSX/FS9/X-Plane over at rage3d i was told by spyre (ATI Beta Tester & AMD Game Moderator) That ATI/AMD dont care about FSX/FS9 & problems are not going to get looked at/fixed EVERcheck out this post of his from one of our last exchanges on the matterhttp://www.rage3d.com/board/showpost.php?p...amp;postcount=7Myself i voted with my wallet and went to Nv (sure they have problems aswell) & FSX is much smoother on the 260 that i ever managed to get it running on my 4870 and thanks to better AA/AF via nhancer it looked loads better aswellGood luck Gizmo http://shadeforfsx.blogspot.com/
January 26, 201016 yr As for FSX, not going to be looked at, they wont rewrite the drivers for one game, especially since its a hidiously outdated engine and there most likely wont be any more games from them since MS closed down the studio that made the FS 'games'__________________Game.AMD AdministratorAMD/ATI Beta TesterTerry Makedons Twitter, read for latest Catalyst newshttp://twitter.com/CatalystMaker Ouch that is crap!! So we may see no Vsync in FSX if using Win 7/Vista... I hate to say it but I am surprised anyone can recommend ATI for FSX with all these issues occuring.... am now looking at picking up second hand 8800GTX or waiting till the G100's are around.... :(
January 26, 201016 yr Exactly the response I expected. It doesn't make sense from their perspective to invest the time into making their drivers work better with MSFS for precisely the reasons Terry Makedon listed.
February 3, 201016 yr Author Commercial Member Well if they did officially say no to doing FSX fixes on Rage3d then I guess that's it, I'll be buying an Nvidia card again. (probably a GTX285 sadly, since I don't think the GF100 is going to be very good in FSX because it's built for GPU-limited engines) That's complete crap btw when he said they don't make changes for a single game, there's a whole freaking list of them in every driver's release notes. What he should have said is "We won't fix anything that's not (insert first person shooter here)." Oh well, their loss, I won't be recommending ATI anymore. You won't be going over his head by speaking to a "district sales manager".

That would surely get ATI's attention!Additionally, it would be great if those community members with most expertise in tuning hardware and FSX could continue posting their results with different video cards for benchmarking purposes, essentially taking up the slack from those well-known sites no longer bothering to post their own FSX benchmarks. These sim community benchmarks, together with developer-assisted market size estimations would do wonders in getting ATI and nVidia to fix the driver bugs we care about.Cheers,-jahman.
