February 6, 201016 yr Good morning everyone, I have the 737 and find it a great a/c to fly however there is a few things holding me back, although its great the display lets me down a bit (as per screenies) and this is with the update, v1.3 i thinkI also have an issue with the airbrake, when i touchdown, and i have to manually mouse over the lever in the throttle panel to activate it and then deactivate it so i can get throttle again(in the event of a go around after ive just touched the wheels down) even when just trying to get it to throttle i get the buzzing noise saying i cant throttle, and pushing / doesnt work - although it moves the lever it doesnt activate and deacivate it allowing me to throttle. and having taken the step to get fsx, i am curious as to whether there were problems like this with - say the md-11.And also should my overhead work when in vc mode? as mine doesntI hope i have made this clear enough for you to understand.as you can see it does look pretty poor, and i have a decent enough computer to run this ok.any help appreciated, thanksEDIT: core 2 duo 3.0ghz, 2 gig ram, nvidia 8600gts, win xp
February 6, 201016 yr The spoilers I find need to be armed with the mouse, the only time the throttle panel needs to be displayed. The deployment or retraction (do not recall at the moment) uses SHIFT-/. Check the key assignments in the PMDG menu dropdown available from the FS menu bar by hitting ALT when a flight is loaded. While in the PMDG key assignments check out the panel popup hot keys. I use the PMDG defined keys as on the panel view icons except for those I don't use. Do not use the standard FS Shift-number combos as the instruments will not work correctly. So I use T to bring up the throttle when entering the approach phase, mouse arm it, and hit T again to close it. I then use / and SHIFT-/ to work the spoilers.Regarding the automatic deployment be sure your autobrake is set I think as well. Some people state that if you have the control spike elimination feature turned on in FSUIPC you can have that auto-deployment problem.
February 6, 201016 yr Hi, i appreciate the time taken to respond, and all is noted, thank you.Is this what i should be expecting my cockpit to look like? and is there much of an improvement in fsx's? and lastly, should my overhead in vc mode work?regards
February 6, 201016 yr The difference between the old 737 created for FS2002 and the newest thing, the JS41, is unbelievable. There's just no comparison at any level. The MD11 is a very good FS9 simulation. Dan Downs KCRP
February 6, 201016 yr Hi dan, thanksSorry i meant to say that the pmdg above is fs9, but i am looking for something for fsx, and i thought the md11 would be ideal, as im not into long haul stuff and just prefer short hops around europe so the 747 would imo be like using a 6" nail for a panel pin material (if you get me).regards

February 8, 201016 yr Here is a quick tip"/" is to deploy airbrakes aka "spoilers"and "shift /" is to arm the spoilersTaylor Oldham
February 12, 201016 yr I am guessing a little here, but a go around is normally initiated while still in the air... If you are planning on touching and going, then you should not arm the spoilers, so they do not deploy on ground contact (is it a switch on the oleos?).There is an interesting youtube video of a real life training session in the real jet, touch and goes... the spoilers were not armed... touchdown, then the PNF retracted flaps back to 15 (I think) and you hear him saying "Stand 'em up" then "Push 'em up" in reference to thrust lever settings to spool up the engines back to TO thrust...Great to watch and learned a lot from the video about terminal hand flying the 737...Andrew Andrew Entwistle
