A Miracle Tweak!

Featured Replies

Is it a "Miracle Tweak" to adjust the sliders? No, absolutely not, but I made this headline and post to remind people that FSX has several build-in options to get the best performance for YOUR system! It doesn't have to be anything wildly "mysterious and esoteric" - finding a gem of a tweak somewhere deep down in the CFG, or elsewhere. It's rather simple actually: Look at the settings FSX automatically choose when you do a fresh install! That's the settings for your system, now use it. :(
Of course you have to adjust the settings. With the upcoming Orbx PNW they recommend settings as a starting point should be:Level of detail radius Large Global Texture Resolution Max Mesh Complexity 100 Mesh Resolution 2m Texture Resolution 7cm Scenery Complexity Extremely Dense Autogen Density Normal Aircraft AI Traffic 16% Road Vehicles 16% Not much point in buying a product like PNW if you are just going to accept the default settings. Of course that is fine if you are just going to use DEFAULT aircraft, scenery weather and all. With my system set up as above I am getting over 40 FPS flying Orbx Australia plus Active Sky Advanced and My Traffic 2010.I do not use "a gem of a tweak somewhere deep down in the CFG" as you say - just nhancer. Yes my system is powerfull but for you to tell me "That's the settings for your system, now use it. :(" is very silly.

Did you notice the smiley at the end of this sentence?- and this one... :( I can't believe why simmers are so serious about this Game! It's a game, a simulation, it's for fun and enjoyment, but unfortunately the "geeks" have taken over. They don't fly, the Geeks, they are stuck in the "brains" of FSX and in the forums!

Of course its a simulation and yes I take it seriously - Real pilots use Simulators to learn their trade in. It is just a game to you but to not to others. You obviously enjoy FSX as a GAME and that is fine but others use it as a learning tool.

I wonder if there's a Greasemonkey script available that will hide all topics with the word "tweak" on them so I won't accidentally waste my time anymore! :(

Anything bellow Dense AG is unacceptable to me.That's why I bought a new system that can handle dense AG in the best sceneries like ORBX.The sliders are very important, but not nearly as the system running FSX.But we all know that already. :(

lol personally in Europe I don't need that particular setting to see the same amount of AG because so much more to see on a far less space :-)Despite the great FTX scenery I prefer Europe far more traffic and airports on less space make it personally far more interesting to fly.Even without the great FTX scenery ;-)In general it's always wise to balance your system and all full to the right oh well we all know what will happen ;-)

A learning tool for pilots or for tweak-geeks?!Personally I think FS9 would be much better as a pilot training sim.
C'mon, Mathijs - we know who you are! :(
lolololol
