February 28, 201016 yr Hi,ASE works perfectly so far, a fact for which I'd like to thank developers and tech-support.One strange thing - I'm always having one layer of puffy clouds at FL350 regardless of the weather. Actually I can live with that, but it looks quite unrealistic sometimes. Is there any way to fix it in Options or it's a bug?ThanksDmitriy 9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung, AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.
February 28, 201016 yr Hi,On the Options/Cloud Options tab, are your CAVOK, No Data, Cirrus, and Stratus cloud sliders all at zero?
February 28, 201016 yr Jim,I take the opportunity to ask for one thing here (because you mention the zero settings). Mine are at zero and one of those at 1% - since this was supposed to fix some issue (can't remember which). Is this still ok? Tom Link
February 28, 201016 yr Author Hi,On the Options/Cloud Options tab, are your CAVOK, No Data, Cirrus, and Stratus cloud sliders all at zero?Nope. These categories are between 20-65%. Should I set them to o%? I really like slight cirrus layers. 9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung, AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.
March 1, 201016 yr ST, That is fine either way. Pretty sure we worked on that 1% issue a long time ago.G-Y, Set the Cirrus where ever you would like and pu the others at zero. You should only get high cirrus textures. But at the same time watch AS, because we can draw layers pretty high if the data supports it. I am not talking about 35-40K though.

March 1, 201016 yr Today between Manchester and Glasgow in FL340 I had some very nice cloud formation at the same altitude and above. My cavok, no data and stratus sliders are at 0%, cirrus around 20% or so. It's not a big deal, especially because the cloud popping hasn't occured to me so far. It's just... well, it doesn't exactly fit to the Metar you get at the same time and the same place. Cheers - Stefan Maus
March 1, 201016 yr I had the same today on the way into EGPH (from EKVG). Lots of nice CU cloud formation at FL350 and above.Never mind, compared with the other problem I had, this is insignificant.More on that in another post :( Neil
March 1, 201016 yr Still the same here as well. Really hoped this would eventually be fixed as it's FAR from insignificant for me. i7 2600k @ 5.1Ghz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz, EVGA GTX 580 @ 950MHz, OCZ Vertex II 240GB, ASUS Xonar DG, Thermaltake Toughpower XT 875W PSU, Antec KÜHLER 620 W/C, Corsair 600T SE White My FS9 Screens - http://fs9screens.blogspot.com/ Callum Richardson
March 1, 201016 yr Jim, my cirrus slider is at 1% and i do get nice layer of cirrus. Yesterday I flew cross Europe and I got them most of the way. Tom Link
March 1, 201016 yr Hi All,Steve, I know a few hours has passed but I went to EGNC, let ASE process and then used Slew to 34k and no high cumulus clouds were drawn, only those supported by the data far below me.In my weeks of testing, I too mainly fly FS9 and I mainly fly at high altitudes and I never did see this.I don't know if it is a settings difference, FSUIPC difference or something else, but it does bother me that already some are still seeing this, so I will report it to the Team. For those that asked about the cloud sliders: set them wherever you like now.
March 1, 201016 yr It's not limited to the Scottish area. My flight went on to Portland. It did happen several times, over Baffin Island as well as the Canadian Rockies. The last time I encountered these conditions shortly before my descent when I passed Seattle. I still hit the tops at FL380, pretty high for cumulus...But - and that's important in my opinion - no cloud popups whatsoever. And that's a vast improvement.Interesting though, high cu clouds seem to appear rather randomly. They are not limited to METARs with FEW020 reported. They also appear with scattered 070. Or overcast 120 over Nunavut.Weird...Edit//As to my fsuipc settings - I used the button "Weather Settings Off", just to be sure. The only thing enabled is "allow gusts in upper winds". BTW - I didn't find any hint in the manual about FSUIPC's "allow changes to FS own weather". What setting do you recommend? Cheers - Stefan Maus
March 2, 201016 yr Hi,That FSUIPC setting should be off. Or re-set to default settings and weather settings off and then look at that setting. However it is then, is how it should stay.
March 2, 201016 yr Hi, i flew a 16 hr flight day before yesterday and over salt lake city at 33-35k flight level, I also encountered similar conditions with cumulus. I don't mind it actually, and I think it might be coz of my settings. Then again, in real life I have noticed many times puffy cloud coverage at high altitudes. I really don't mind it at all. Also in my FS9 setting, I put cloud sight distance quite low. I am guessing it is for this reason that the clouds on cruise level suddenly disappear and then re-appear smoothly? Also I have to say this as a compliment. My machine is 500mb ram, and comparing to ASA, the CPU usage is much better with this. I had stopped ASA coz of this.Even the map system in ASE, loads nicely, although in map page, I have 2 or 3 options ticked. But still works for me. Bilal Asif Khan
