Red warning light at take off

Featured Replies

I genuinely tried to head this off...which is not to say that Chris needs my help. There are plenty of well-meaning people here offering advice, and I think that he got the answer he was looking for. But for some reason the pitch forks are out and the torches are lit, and I don't think there's any reason for it. Most of this conversation has already been had in a previous thread. Chris has stated his case in the past, and as long as he's getting enjoyment out of the airplane, does it really matter what his preferences are? I love (and I mean LOVE) a heated debate, but I don't see anything to debate here. The question was answered, and at no time did he complain or otherwise indicate displeasure with the answer he received. Can we just call it square before the thread gets locked?

For what it's worth....if I have upset anyone, then I apologise. I also thank everyone who offered advice.

Something interesting happened on my latest short test flight............the red warning light never appeared. Interestingly, the condition levers are usually already in FLIGHT mode when I start at the runway threshold (possibly because I saved the startup flight in that mode without thinking), so I decided to pull them back to TAXI mode (after setting the flaps), and then armed the spoilers. The subsequent take off run (after pushing the condition levers back into FLIGHT mode and applying take off power) was warning light free :( I will have to test that method again at the start of my next flight...I also made sure to give the (reverse propellor pitch) joystick button a firm press when I had landed, and the green light appeared (it had failed to do so in my previous two flights, even after arming the spoilers before take off). I also made sure to disengage the reverse propellor pitch properly, and I noticed a distinct change to the pitch of the engines as I braked. When I let go of the brakes, the plane rolled to a stop on its own. This latter event is something that has not happened for quite some time (the aircraft previously carried on moving until I used the brakes to stop it completely). Are the condition levers supposed to switch back to TAXI mode automatically? That's what it sounded like, but I forgot to check!

Chris,No, FO usually pulls the CONDITION levers back to TAXI during his After Landing flow. It's not automatic. If you get the TOCWS aural again, take a look at your RPM gauge and verify that it's actually at 100%. There are times when I move the CONDITION levers to FLIGHT, but I don't get the FO's callout announcing it. If I look at the RPM, it's usually 99.8% or so, and that's enough to cause the TOCWS alert. Use the FSX default key command (I think it's CTL+F4) to ensure you achieve 100%.The order in which you satisfy the takeoff configuration criteria shouldn't matter. Also, the fact the spoilers are deploying on landing now is probably related to the fact the airplane was properly configured for takeoff this time.

No.I find it odd that a gentleman begins his second post here with useless remarks.Maybe not the best way to remain a member for the next eight years!

If I remember correctly, witch hunts weren't exactly organised by individuals who were blessed with common sense :(

But then people with common sense tend to read the manuals before trying something as complex as flying a plane?

I also find it odd that an administrator is threatening or bullying a new member for what is, in my opinion, fair comment. His remarks, while possibly as useless and irrelevent as yours (or mine) were at least polite.

Paul Smith.

Paul,I reported your first post because it was unnecessarily inflamatory. I would do the same thing to your latest post, but that feels a little bit like "tattling", so I'd rather engage you personally.Chris asked a question and he received an acceptable answer. The rest of the back and forth was unwarranted and misinformed. There's nothing "odd" about his question, or the manner in which he asked it. He finds simulating other aspects of flight more enjoyable than simulating airline operations, and that's fine. Why you or anyone else has a problem with it, is immaterial. There's no response to your rhetorical question that could possibly lead to anything other than flaming. So please, just let it go.

OK, this thread is going south.I lock it so Chris, you'll have some time to read the manual and Paul, time for a nice beer! :(
