Cartoony Runway Textures

Featured Replies

Hi guysI like all of your responses but I think they are a little off the topic... Most of what I am hearing here is about textures and texture quality. But as I have mentioned before and as you can see from the pics in this post we are talking about the EXTREME white outline AROUND only the runway textures.. It matters not WHAT textures you use the HIGH CONTRAST WHITE OUTLINE is still there.. The problem I have with this is if you get within 10 miles of the airport the runways stand out like a sore thumb. (I like the origanal posters comment that it reminded him of the B. Artwick days) very funny!!Anyway my system is core i7 extreme/12 gig of ram/ATI 5870 running in eyefinity on 3 42'/ my system is not the problem here.. I still believe it has something to do with the airports AFCAD file for the ai, but that is as far as my thinking takes me.I appreciate all you guys ideas..thanksJim

To the OP, you'll want to turn on AA and AF, if using an nvidia card, download and run nHancer.... set up your system and FSX profile via suggestions in this thread:http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041

Are you in DX10 mode? The first 2 shots look like a Anti-Alias problem, while the 3rd one shows texture bleed through, which is indicative of being in DX10 Preview mode? If you are try turning it off, and the problem should go away. As for the AA problem you can use Nhancer if you have a Nvidia card. I use the 8Xs setting for best results of quality vs performance in FSX.

Thanks

One of many. You'll finally have to get rid of that old (but good for it's time) San Francisco & Seattle stuff...
Larry,You might be interested to know that I do not use Flight Unlimited 3 anymore. I have "upgraded" :( to Flight Simulator X. The cockpit panels in FU3 do not display properly on my Vista64 powered PC, but that isn't the main reason why I switched. My dream has always been to be able to fly around a highly detailed rendition of the British Isles, and I am well on my way to making that dream a reality. I have the Horizon VFR Generation X Version 2 photographic scenery of England and Wales installed, and also the first volume in their VFR Scotland series (The Western Isles). I also have VFR Airfields Volumes 1+2 (by Gary Summons; UK2000), and several Xtreme versions of his airports. When Volume 3 is released this summer, I will have complete coverage of England and Wales (over 200 beautifully detailed airfields and airports). Scotflight scenery are producing scenery packs (including detailed airports) that match the VFR Scotland series, so I will eventually have complete coverage of Scotland. Add to that the incredibly detailed Earth Simulations scenery packages (Channel Isles, Scilly Isles, and the Isle of Man), and the dream will be alive! You might also be interested to know that I have purchased three payware planes.....PMDG BAe Jetstream 4100Flight1 Cessna Citation MustangRealAir Beechcraft Duke B60Every aspect of each plane (3D model, VC, sounds, animations etc) is superb. They are wonderfully stable at low speeds (as you know, my favourite area of the flight envelope :( ), and they are a joy to hand fly.I have wonderful memories of flying the Beechjet and Baron 58 in Flight Unlimited 3, and I will always be proud of the freeware packages that I created (together with others) that effectively rebuilt the default airports and airfields, and added lots of new stuff. It's just that I have finally found a replacement that is even better!
