March 15, 201016 yr I am wondering what the problem might be? Let me explain:I am using FS9 the aircraft above...installed the latest Cycle 1003 for "all PMDG" products from Navdata...When setting up at PANC on Runway 32 and using the "Turnagain Three Departure" which states that you "Climb heading 324 degrees to 600', then climbing RIGHT turn to 2000 via heading 170degrees. After crossing ANC VOR/DME R-060, climb to FL200 or assigned altitude via heading 200degrees. Expect radar vectors to assigned route. Expect further clearance to filed altitude within 10 minutes after departure."The problem with the FMS on the MD-11 is that it picture turn LEFT instead of the correct procedure to turn RIGHT...I have other aircraft such as the Eaglesoft Citation X which displays the correct procedure described above. Now what is going on here? I am a pilot not a computer programmer so maybe somebody can explain, is this a problem with NAVADATA or the FMS on the PMDG MD-11? I haven't tried other airports with SIDS and STARS so maybe this is a isolated situation...Robert AdamsFDX183, CJA183 and Delta7725 Bob Adams
March 16, 201016 yr Try installing Dan Downs 1003 sidstar collection - that should help as he puts a lot of work into each cycle.http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=278857John Ellison

We have the RIGHT statement in our database, but I can't add it in the PMDG format due to the missing syntax. Therefore it doesn't work in the PMDG AIRAC." Here is the line in the PMDG file:RNW 32 HDG 324 UNTIL 600 TRK 170 INTERCEPT RADIAL 060 FROM FIX ANC HDG 200 VECTORS No turn statement possible between UNTIL and the next TRK-statement. This is a PMDG limitation..I haven't attempted to try out other SIDS & STARS with the PMDG MD-11 FS9 version since I just downloaded the latest AIRAC cycle yesterday... Bob Adams
March 16, 201016 yr Try Dan's file, or even try creating the procedure yourself by using the sidstar tutorial off planepath's website Gavin Price
March 16, 201016 yr Try Dan's file, or even try creating the procedure yourself by using the sidstar tutorial off planepath's websiteHi,The departure procedure which you are trying to use is limited to certain catagories of aircraft see Dan Downs procedures. It only applies to A and B types of aircraft, not the MD11.Norman Bowman Norman Bowman
March 16, 201016 yr Commercial Member You're going to have to fly that turn manually in HDG mode - the PMDG navdata doesn't currently support defining a direction for a turn, it's going to take the shortest direction. March 17, 201016 yr Author Why not? I realize this is not a practical turn and is not allowed for "heavy" aircraft, but since this is a simulator instead of a "real" world I was testing the MD-11 FMS...But after writing Navdata and getting their reply I realize the problem...Just thankful this isn't the "real" world of flying or we would be in deep hole in the ground... March 17, 201016 yr Commercial Member If you think a real life pilot would crash because his FMS won't automatically do a turn in a departure procedure for him/her, then I think you need to hang around more actual pilots... I'd venture that this departure gets flown manually quite often in the real world. In general real pilots don't like having a computer do all the flying for them, there's no fun in that. It's just like autolands - a lot of simmers assume pilots do these all the time in real life - they don't. March 17, 201016 yr The turn direction here is an unsupported FMC procedure function but I also mentioned to Bob on the Navigraph forum:PANC turnagain three Departure:Is for CAT A and B aircraft weighing 17,500 LB or less. The MD11 ZFW = 370,000 lbsI think all the departures out of PANC are hand flown / vectored for CAT C/D.....
