LOWI approach RNAV26

Featured Replies

Hi,wanted to try this arrival but I am required to fill in the MIN PROF field: what is it for?Did anyone try this procedure?Thankssenzatitolo1wb.jpg

The minimums as provided on the chart. If you don't have the chart then try a figure that is about 600 AGL. At that altitude you lose PROF and fly manually.

Lorenzo,I happen to see your post on Navigraph. The 360 degree you seen in LD is a course to follow not a 360 degree turn. After reaching RTT it is a (approx) 180 degree turn back to WI002 then on your way to runway 26...I looked at an "old" 2009 chart: RNAV (RNP) RWY 26 LOWI.A more current chart may show different, you would have to verify your chart. What I see for all aircraft (FMC) is:BRENO, INN, RTT, HOLD at RTT and descend to 9600 feet while in the holding pattern, then exit hold at IAF waypoint WI001 (same as RTT), and then commence the approach to WI002 and RW26.The "HOLD" at RTT is a course reversal / Procedure turn. This is what is not currently in the procedure. The HOLD could be added to the FMC ... makes life easier.Have a good flight.

The charts I have have been taken here: http://www.vacc-austria.org/?page=content/...t&icao=LOWISo basically once arrived at RTT I must turn left and come back to WI002: or not? If you look carefully at the arrival charts coming from BRENO you have INN, RTT...but then? I thought you had to be vecotred to turn back towards the runway but, as far as I understood, you can do it on your own by following the holding pattern.Hope it's clear. :(

an MD11 seems a little too big and too fast for the airport

Lorenzo,As it turns out my old chart shows the Holding Pattern for the approach but yours did not.I looked again at your chart. It is dated Effective 15 MAR 07 - Released 01 JULY 08It is also called a SID in the upper left hand corner?I do not know how Europe does these charts? Both SID and approach in one chart?Mine was from 2009 .. as it turns out my chart is newer!LOWI-3.jpg

You will pardon me but I do not understand your questions... SIDs are on one page, STARs on another: why did you say that they are altogether? However, it does not depend on how old these charts are. I see the holding and that's fine, next time I know that I have to enter the holding to come back towards the runway. Thanks

Hi Guys,In the real world air craft need to be fitted with and using GPS and IRS for this procedure. This aircraft would not use LOWI in real world operations as it is too large.RegardsNorman Bowman

Lorenzo,I was wondering about the charts for LOWI that are in the link you provided. If I select RNAV 26-RNP Approach chart from the list. Then I get a SID, but, it also says RNAV (RNP) ARRIVAL RWY 26 on the SID?And it does not show a HOLD as part of the approach.lowi-rnav.jpg********

Yes that's true, I believe that is kind of mistake. I believe we must rely on what is filed under "TYPE" column. However the hold is depicted on the "STAR" section.Regards.

The obstacle clearance altitude (height) in LOWI for the special RNAV 26 approach is 2600(707) according to the current chart on Eurocontrol's EAD site. The minimum sector alitudes are frightening in LOWI, 9500ft to the North and East, 10,700ft to the West, and 14,100ft between 090
