April 13, 201016 yr Hey guys i know some VA'S like to be proffesional, im an 30 year old male, im abit dissapointed that i failed the test outa 11 questions i got two wrong one of which i know i got wrong was the name of the ceo (nothing to do with how you fly) and 1 aviation question!! On the test you are only allowed to get 1 wrong once you do that you are not allowed to re-test or try an alternative email address, it goes by your i.p addy. Was looking forwards to flying flybe been as these are the low cost carriers at Birmingham International, looks like im looking for another VA!!!!! So todays lesson is learn who the CEO is first as it may come up in the test lol!!! :( Danny...
April 13, 201016 yr So what is stopping you getting a Dash 8 or Embraer E-jet with FlyBe livery, and flying from Birminham on FlyBe's schedule? You don't need anyone's permission (apart from ATC, but FSX ATC or RC4 will give you clearance). Why ask permission from a Virtual Airline? What added value are they going to provide? At the risk of being controversial, what is the point of any VA? So you fly, so you collect hours, so you get promoted. So? You'll get more fulfilment with Farmville on Facebook. I just don't 'get' VA's. Petraeus

April 13, 201016 yr ???????????? It's a GAME for crying out loud... Thanks for the warning: now I'll never 'touch' VA's ever again. :(Well, being a member of a VA means there is some chance of meeting other simmers who share your interest in a particular airline or style of flying. They typically have discussion forums and dedicated Teamspeak channels and such. Some have quite extensive databases of routes and various tools to help you dispatch your flights.Sadly, what they also often have in common also is various methods of restricting your flying, often requiring you to spend tons of hours in planes that don't really interest you before you "qualify" to fly what you really want. I'm currently a member of "Eagle Valley Air", a small VA with friendly members and a focus on bush flying. It is based on VA Financials, which means that you are restricted to routes and aircraft that exist in that system, but in practice this isn't much of a problem since any reasonable request for new aircraft and/or routes are usually fulfilled very quickly. Bush airplanes are what this VA is about, obviously, but there is a "free zone" where you can fly anything you like - the Concorde if you want - as long as you fly it frequently enough to pay the monthly lease in VA Financials. If you loose interest in a plane and stop flying it, it is just removed from the system. And if you happen to like bush flying (I do), it's great to be in a VA where some dedicated people have already established routes to interesting destinations. There are many VAs out there, not all of them are about knowing the (virtual) CEO's name. Try another, stay if you like it, leave if you don't. August 19, 201015 yr Hay im the CEO! :)Some answers are in the http://www.virtualflybe.co.uk/about.php as stated in the T&C's before you apply, hope you got through after all that we did have some teeething probs with the exam systems.Happy flying.
August 19, 201015 yr Don't let one bad experience keep you from joining a VA. I've been a pilot for one since the early 90's and have no intention of giving it up. My VA is a fairly loose knit group of fine people. You are assigned two routes per month to fly, and then you can log any other flights you make. There is also a weekly multiplayer flight that you can fly if you so desire. There is also a very large database of routes to fly if you choose to. No tests, No hassle, Just fun. It's all in what you make it. :( Thank you. August 19, 201015 yr So what does a virtual CEO of a virtual airline do anyway? And how do you qualify to be one??

August 20, 201015 yr So what does a virtual CEO of a virtual airline do anyway?Set up a website and discussion forum, maintain a route network (or get someone else to do it), decide on how rewards, ranks, etc. should work, recruit members, figure out ways of making continued membership interesting, ...And how do you qualify to be one??You start doing the above. Now see if you can grow your VA beyond a one-man operation :( Tom Risager NGX tutorial: http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?Location=AVSIM&Proto=ftp&DLID=162360 SIDs & STARs Worked Examples: LOWI-UUDD, KSEA-KLAX, EKCH-ENGM, YSCB-YPAD
