April 17, 201016 yr Hi Bojote,I know you now run a 480 and wondered if you had experienced a nvd3dum.dll crash in FSX since installing the 197.41 drivers.I had a 470 for a few days but my 480 has now landed and the 470 is up for sale.I also had the crash 2 or 3 times with the 470.I am using your tweaks: Usepools=0HighMemFix=1TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=400TextureMaxLoad=15FSX is great at a locked 25 fps but occasionally I get this crash and the sim locks. Haven't nailed the reason yet but I never got it with my GTX 280 using your tweaks.I also use ENBSeries mod.Any help appreciated.

Sure works for me (i7-975/GTX285 1GB).
April 17, 201016 yr I also use ENBSeries mod.Any help appreciated.Ok, tell me the following:Your LOD_RADIUSYour Autogen Slider settingYour PSU specsClocks you are running the 480And YES.. I also did exerience it, but ONLY when I tried using HIGH LOD radius settings WITH overclocked video memory (over 2000)

April 17, 201016 yr Hi Dazzlecree,One quick question, 2 actually: Do you see a significant performance improvement with the 480 over the 470? If so, how much? I would really appreciate your thoughts since you may be the only person on the planet who has tried both with FSX.Stephen

Water 2 x Max seems OK in normal areas, i.e. not Manhatten X!!FPS are much the same to be honest.Dazdoes running with LOD_RADIUS = 3.5 reduce the crashes or is about the same? btw, I also tested the 480 around Manhattan X! thats weird... is your CPU overclocked? what seems really weird is that you didn't experience this with the 285... so it could be this drivers are also very 'sensitive' and not yet matureHaven't tried reducing LOD_RADIUS. The crash does not happen very often (3 times so far). Each time in Manhatten X and coming to think of it, approaching the same part of the scenery (I'll have to check that). Flying the PMDG JS4100.I tend to agree that it could be a driver issue.....no probs with 280 yet with new driver, same problem on both 470 and 480.I also run another monitor in extended desktop config to run other FSX related apps, i.e. Aivlasofts EFB (although this wasn't running during crash).
April 17, 201016 yr I think it is the driver. I tried them yesterday and the time I flew FS with them I had no crash but did have the crash in other games (FC2). I am back to 182.20 good old tried and true with no issues at all. Actually I made a deal with myself that I am not going to try any new drivers till I get a new VC. (not).... Jim Wenham

Already reported this to Aerosoft, three weeks ago.

April 17, 201016 yr Do you know where I can get any documentation for the entries in the fsx.cfg file? There is none. However, 'some' are documented for ESP.Try this:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc526948.aspx

Perhaps the better question is whether you think the 470 GTX is worth buying?Stephen

Perhaps the better question is whether you think the 470 GTX is worth buying?StephenWith the relevant tweaks - Yes. But there is still a balance to be found based on the rest of the system. I also think there maybe a couple of driver issues with the new cards which (relative to FSX) may or may not get fixed.Daz, then I think what the problem is...Use the fsx.cfg entry to display an alert when textures are missing (Manhattan X is missing SEVERAL) and you'll see the crashes happen near the place you get this alerts. April 17, 201016 yr Can you explain how I do this please.ThanksSure, add this under the scenery section:[sCENERY]ShowMissingTextureAlert=1Now, you'll know if any 'scenery' is missing a particular texture or set or textures. So far, the ONLY ones i've seen that give an error:FSDT KJFK and Manhattan X.. coincidentially both on the same area you are testing :)
