April 27, 201016 yr Well, you can run BP=0 definitely. But gotta be VERY careful with this 9800GTX+. Meaning your IQ has to be relatively low, no Nhancer, no 8xS, scenery/AG is ok as it is. Since it's two core, then I suggest trying FFTF=0,33 and TextureMaxLoad=6 or 3, depends how it's going. I think 9 or more is too much for you sys.Probably no flying in VC on final... I can barely manage that, albeit with high IQ.Saved for now, will try those out.Thanks,Dirk.
April 27, 201016 yr ......So my message is, yes, the messiah has undoubtedly brought us something magical! ....but keep your willingness to challenge, and try your own things. That said ........... everything you try on your PC is at your own risk. Everyone can and does see differing results and stability. Just like your car, you "remap" your FSX ECU at your own risk!I arrived at your results but on a much shorter track--I applied the BP pools tweak when it was first mentioned by *******, and never looked back. My Nvidia settings already were set to enhance the sim's. Since I keep my fps locked at 30 (I prefer to use the sim's lock feature), I don't notice much change other than a perceptible improvement in smoothness. However scenery areas which used to lower my performance into the 20's (Venice scenery is a perfect example) now also run at 30, which really ups the enjoyment of such areas. I use only SP1 which I found immune to most of the issues others had reported. I've been running with the BP tweak now since *******' original post, which seems like centuries :)-John
April 27, 201016 yr Commercial Member Hello *******,thanks for your very interesting discoveries - it's hardcore tweakers heaven :( ! Regarding the [TERRAIN] LOD_RADIUS - i am pretty sure that this value only affects the terrain texture detail draw distance, not the agn batch distance. That's why you get much nicer terrain further out with higher levels. No doubt, it requires hardware muscles to set it above the default 4.5 (i use 8 for screen shots and 6.5 for the joy flights). Or maybe i misunderstood 'batch everything' ?If you ever used Tileproxy then you know how 1 extra ring can destroy texture loading and is like quad-drupel the load of the previous setting. eg 4.5-5.5.Definitely use a lower setting on landings.jja Jim Allen[email protected]SkyPilot Software home of FSXAssist / P3DAssist
April 27, 201016 yr For me (IMHO) only a LOD >5.5 makes sense. Otherwise the Textures in the near distance looks to awful. I also found out, that with the i7 980X a different Aff. mask makes the stutters neither worse nor better. Tried with all possible combinations. Have to try higher FFTF now.
April 27, 201016 yr I agree, I run radius of 6.5 and just lower my autogen setting to normal or dense

Thats is; speaking just good photoreal textures not TileProxy.
