Geof,I have a very fast connection and it took me over 3.5 hours to download the 20+ gig worth of files (Six zips and 1 PDF). The scenery is certainly very well done, and at the price they're asking it's a steal (includes free updates for more seasons, when released)!

They look a bit weird to me. They don't seem focused.

And what was the hype all about...? Did I miss something? I didn't know there was a hype. Looks very dark and (indeed) not focused (could be the jpg compression though!) and of course you get the 'typical photoreal view'. But all in all (apart from the fact that there will be seasons, autogen and nightlighting and it can be produced real quick) it looks like any other photoreal addon. Without seeing the seasons, etc. I don't know how you can say it lives up to the Hype... if there was any. :( Mind you, I am known for not really liking photoreal scenery (just ask GabrieleC! :( ), so don't trust me on this (to me photoreal cities all look like as if an atomic bomb has been dropped on them a week ago... FLAT). I will give this one a try though, because I found out screenshots hardly ever do justice to addons: nothing beats seeing it in action on your own computer! :(

Well there was quite a build up to it in the thread that Jeroen and Gabriele were discussing it in and indeed on their website....It's like Marmite with photoscenery I suppose, you either love it or hate it. I can't understand why a few cartoony trees and some generic pop up houses incorrectly aligned over some fuzzy repeating generic textures is more attractive than high resolution accurate imagery. When you add in the fact that this new high res scenery also has autogen and nightlighting and seasons then all of a sudden its very exciting.. Well I think so anyway. I like the way Orbyx are going, but it still looks too generic to me when compared to photoscenery especially over the forest and mountains. I have all the orbyx stuff so can speak as someone with a foot in both camps. I have no particular axe to grind, I just want to look out of the cockpit and see reality below me and in the sky around me. I think this product advances that , hence my excitement. I also had my enb series mod running that darkens down the colours a lot, and I think my lod radius was set lower than it usually is. Close up under the plane it is crystal clear and very good..Cheers, Mark

It's all a matter of taste, obviously. I do understand people like this kind of scenery. I can appreciate it too, but mainly in area's where there are no cities. (Wales looks pretty nice with VFR GenX installed!)But anyway, I'd like to apologize for my participation in this topic: I already posted stuff in the other VERO topic and started another 'anti-photoreal campaign' in the NL2000 topic and I realize this is getting old and boring pretty quickly... I should have left it to those who like this kind of stuff. There was no need for repeating my view on it all once more. So my sincere apologies for that. I'll try not to post anything negative anymore in any photoreal topic. :( I don't want everyone to think I am a grumpy old man, because I am not. Honest. Really! Believe me!!! :(
