High CPS usage - FSX

Featured Replies

High, everyone.I want to ask you guys, if someone experienced something like this or if someone knows if this is a normal behavior.I just installed in a empty 500 Gb HD, Windows 7 with the lastest Nvidia drivers, and nothing more. Then i installed FSX and Acceleration and nothing more.Of course, FPS i have are quite high with FPS set to unlimited (around 50) }but the strange thing im getting is after about 30 seconds or less the 4 cores goes to almost 90% and the FPS drops like 20 or more and its stay there. You may think that 25 FPS y quite nice (and i think that too) but the problem is that after install ActiveSky X and PIC 737 im in 8 FPS and i can't fly like that.On the other hand i also try some of the tweaks that are over the web but it doesnt change enything. Now, this is normal and mi rig its not powerfull enough or what??Thank you all.Matias

Hi Matias. Try a freeware program called process monitor (I think thats what is called). I will tell you pretty much everything what your computer is doing. Giver a shot and see what is driving that cpu so high

Sounds like a running process is doing that. I'd expect an AV program, or similar. You could try Gamebooster and temporarily kill those unneeded processes from running while you fly. http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html

What are your slider settings for:autogenscenery complexitywatercloud distanceall the different kinds of traffic?Any of these setting can completely kill FPS if they are set too high for your computer, while lowering them has the opposite effect. The NickN guide may be of value to you: http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041.Enjoy,

I guess, without knowing your display settings it's hard to know if this is the issue. But I think it's really common to have them set too high.Remember, you can get your system

Thanks for your sugestion Rod, but i did that guide at first and i thought that was the problem so i reinstalled everything, included the SO and i wanted to see if the default installation was doing the same thing and it was.My slider are as the game set it by default. All to the right, i only changed the FPS to unlimited. I dont think that the slider is the problem cause i have very decent FPS without any addon, the problem is that even without any addon the FPS drops like 20 - 25 frames without doing anything. Not even starting the engines. I just sit there in the default cessna at SABE.Thats why i asked if that is normal, because if it is then my rig cant run FSX with any complex add onMatias

All 4 cores at 100% - I doubt that is FSX. I think you have a rogue running in the background as suggested previously. You will have to think outside the box.

Rig: Gigabyte B550 AORUS Master Motherboard, AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT CPU, 32GB DDR4 Ram, Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super Graphics,  Samsung Odyssey  wide view display (5120 x 1440 pixels) with VSYNC on.

All 4 cores at 100% - I doubt that is FSX.
i agree, FSX only 'kinka' knows how to use multiple cores ... and only if you have sp1 and sp2 installed. FSX does most of the 'thinking' on one core. with the SP's installed the game will 'farm out' some of the graphics to another core(s). still, one CPU is doing most of the work.--

But honestly i don't know what that means.UAC is off, FSX is runing as admin...Maybe the Display drivers?? i have version 197.45 nvidia drivers. The lastest.I can't think anything else.Thank you for any help you can give me. i will keep runing more testsMatias
