Born Again FSX Virgin

Featured Replies

New computer and a shiny new install of FSX. I have stacks of CDRs with my flight sim archives on them, with hundreds of dollars of add-ons. Yet as I recall the frustrations of endless tweaking and frequent issues, I'm reluctant to just pile back everything into it willy nilly. So far, the only thing I have decided I can't live without is Radar Contact. I can tolerate stock traffic, scenery is not too much an issue at 30,000 feet, and fancy weather programs seem to be a source of issues and conflicts for me. Plane-wise, I've got the Captain Sim 757 and 767 plus Wilco's Airbus Vols. 1 and 2 for variety. Life is simpler and so far I'm liking it. I'm doing more planning and flying and less messing around with stuff.

I did almost the same thing last month, but I had to add back my 'standard' programs, FEX, GEX, UTX, Scenery tech, and Genesis, I just cant take the default scenery. However I am finding I dont need nearly as many planes as I had installed before. In fact I am thinking about buying some desert land in Arizona and starting my own boneyard, providing I can find a way to keep the illigals out.

I wouldn't want to be without my Duke, L39 Albatros, and F1 Mustang or Eaglesoft Citation XOther than that UTX USA is always good.

I wouldn't like to fly without TrackIR, FTX (PNW) and EZdok.

FSUIPC, EZDOK, UTX, GEX, REX, several airports, Radar Contact, Flight Monitor.PMDG planes and a few from Flight1 and thats about it.I too have loads of addons - free and payware but most are not even used.As has been said already there are too many issues for myself with REX weather and ASA/ASE so just use default - less hassle.Going to install only the above in the next few weeks when I upgrade to a I7 920.

In the interest of accuracy and fairness, the QW757 made the cut, too. I'm benching the CS757 for awhile after the autopilot decided to go on a frolic and detour on today's flight from Sao Paolo to Santa Cruz.

Simply put.....if there were no addons available for FSX, then I wouldn't be using it. Default terrain textures and autogen are nowhere near good enough for me.

QW757 and ES CJ1 are in here as well, they are my 'must have's', all the rest are optional.
