Bringing life to the cockpit

Featured Replies

Any freeware or even non-freeware addons that can bring life to the cockpit? I am currently using FS Passenger, but that doesn't really add much life to the cockpit. I was watching youtube videos and it just seemed like there was so much going on in the cockpit. Also, anyway where I can change the voice on the ATC, possibly to many different accents depending on region? Any suggestions?

Hi,If your looking for additional flightdeck work, Radar Contact (payware) will keep you busy!. The MeatWater VocPack (freeware) can be found here at AVSIM, it's a great replacement voicepack for RC4.

Is MeatWater VocPack and RC4 two totally different voice packs or is the former an upgrade for the latter? Thanks mate.

Hi,Radar Contact 4 is the actual ATC program, the ATC program comes with its own set of voices. The freeware voice set from Meatwater just replaces the original Radar Contact 4 sound set with his own.

I found the file on the library (MeatWater Radar Contact 4 VocPack) but it is for FS2004. Will it still work for FSX?Also, do you prefer RC4 or PFE? I fly over Europe alot, I was wondering if RC4 had local accents.

Hi,Radar Contact 4 is compatable with FS2004 and FSX, MeatWater Radar Contact 4 VocPack is compatable with Radar Contat 4 so it will work in both sims.Personally I prefer RC4 over PFE, here are some of the voices that are provided with RC4.rc4.jpgHere is Radar Contact's web page, its loaded with information and documentation.http://www.jdtllc.com/

Take a look at Multi Crew Experience from FS++. It allows you to talk to virtual crew and ground staff members and also to FSX ATC and/or Radar Contact.

I already have FS Passengers...I like how it gives me purpose for flying (making money, etc) but I absolutely hate the pilot/copilot sounds that it comes with.Would anyone here recommend I go for Multi Crew Experience? Is it better than FS Passengers?

There is a comprehensive review of MCE here on Avsim (written by yours truly). I'd recommend reading that and seeing if it would be something you'd like, then you could also try the (free) demo of it, which you can get from the product website. That way you can decide for yourself. It's a lot of bang for your bucks because it does a lot of stuff, and it is a product that is intended to allow you to cherry pick which features you want to use from it, of which there are many.Al

There is no point comparing apples to pigs.MCE is totally different. And Yes, I highly recommend it. I use them both simultaneously. Try the demo, I am almost sure You will go for this app.Why not turning the sounds off in FSpass?

Read your review, very long and detailed! I do have one question though that your review did not address: is MCE compatible with RC4? Can I using my voice to communicate with ATC of RC4? If so, I will go for this add-on.Thanks friends!

I don't know the answer to your question, but I can tell you that if you email FS++ you will get a reply within the day or sooner. Their support (via email) is excellent.

Yes, you can use it to communicate with Radar Contact. The reason my review doesn't say that is because...Here's a quote from the MCE main page: 'You can talk not just to your co-pilot, but to native ATC and Radar Contact as well.'Which is one of the links that review directs users to :( Al

I downloaded the trial version. My co-pilot is Microsoft Anna and she sounds like a robot! I seriously hope there's something I did wrong in the settings because the voice is just garbage. I also don't have other voices available to me. Does RC4 also sound like that?

Go check out the unofficial MCE forum at http://rainbird.heavenforum.com/forum.htm for some discussion on alternative voices amongst other stuff. Most folks seem to opt for Cepstral or ATT&T voices.
