do you like having airports with cross wind rwys active?

Hey allHow are your afcads setup do you prefer CW landings and always having a near miss due to atc limitations, or do you prefer congested delayed takeoffs and landings. I personally hate taking off and another plane is on the cw taxing off, but ill admit no more long waits for landings i takeoff right away.

No, because FSX ATC doesn't know what it's doing and I've had planes landing on both sides of the same runway and planes running into each other taking off on runways that cross.

No for me as well. In theory it is a great thought but in reality it ends up just causing more problems (for me at least).

the best is when the afcad creator doesn't create the fake runways really really far away, so once in a while you and the ai are directed to land on these mysterious fake runways

Using UT2 for AI with its "Clear Approach" key. I find that cross wind runways are unecessary and its a PITA listening to ATIS with them. So I take them out if I cannot get an AFCAD style file for an airport without them.

I've had FSX vector AI on to water runways, just look at this screen shot: ATC vetored a Mooney to land on the water, there also was a 737 and me and my B-52, I selected a hard surface runway after getting instructions for the water aproach (obviously.)

Even though the crosswinds mess up the ATIS communications listing all the "fake" runways, I find them nice to have for the busiest airports. Its a blessing to have at KLGA, wherein single runway operations have planes in the takeoff queue for way too long a time that its impossible to wait. I suppose they aren't necessary at the airport with much less traffic, but I like to have them anyways because for the most part they are more realistic and align with real world airport procedures. For example, at KPHL with crosswinds active, the smaller commuter traffic tend to use the crosswind runway exclusively, leaving more space for the bigger jets to queue for takeoff at the main runways. Like most things in FSX, its a tradeoff that they user has to make a decision on.
