July 9, 201015 yr I think I am ready to change my 3-year old card to accommodate my new 24" widescreen.I have a few concerns though:1) I need to replace the driver. Should I use the one provided with the card or download a better recent one? if ever there is.2) should I simply uninstall the existing driver or do I need to use drivercleaner in safemode? In that case, do I need to remove the display drivers or also the chipset?3) nHancer? Do I have to uninstall it or it can stay as it is with its settings?4) should I expect performance gain: my GPU is a 3-year old DualCore-2.7Ghz on socket 775?Thanks very much for your help on that questions.Ghiom

July 12, 201015 yr 1) download the latest driver from Nvidia's website2) simply uninstall the driver, no need to use cleaning tools3) Nhancer should just work4) yesNhancer doesn't work, (V 2.59), with the 257.XX drivers. A new version is being developed. However, there is a way to use Nhancer-like profiles. Bing it to find the site. I don't have the link in front of me. Or go over to the other site's hardware forum...Kdub
July 12, 201015 yr Getting that GPU and leaving that old Dual Core in there would be like buying a Ferrari and only using reverse :( Go i7! Just wasting money with such a nice vid card otherwise. Dave Creed
July 12, 201015 yr Commercial Member There's a tool called Nvidia Inspector that allows you to adjust the profiles ala nHancer - it's a lot less user friendly though unfortunately. You have to know the internal names for the various AA modes and such. 8XS is AA_MODE_METHOD_MIXEDSAMPLE_8Xhttp://blog.orbmu2k.de/tools/nvidia-inspector-tool#more-244 Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
