Wilco 777

I wonder how many simmers have purchased the Wilco Publishing 777 and have not been totally satisfied with their purchase? I have just bought it and am now beginning to regret the purchase. As the proposed PMDG 777 offing is along way yet,I thought I'd purchase this Add-on for FSX as PSS are now defunct. But compared to the FS2004 PSS 777,this prodcut from Wilco is a long, long way back. Here's a comparison list to the PSS 777:1)Exterior modelling is not too bad,but inside,it's a different matter.2)One needs a magnifying glass just to see the FMC and program it,the text is that miniscule compared to the PSS 777.3)The hydraulic switches are not modelled and stay on permanently,as does the ADRU switch.Same for some other switches, knobs too3)The overhead panel has the cockpit lighting knobs, but they are not modelled so the only option is via the standard keyboard 'L'4)The VNAV or PROG button does not show the T/D distance as in the PSS,or PMDG,or LDS models5)If on a long flight when trying to increase the simulation speed, all of a sudden the Wilco 777 will cease following the FMC-designated track just veer off on its own5)The throttle quadrant does not feature a handbrake6)The runway turn-off lights are not modelled7)The clock does not have a button to start a countdown to time a flight8)And overall, the 2D panel has far too small legends to read off and cannot be reduced to a Cold and Dark statusThe only thing it has on the + side compared to the PSS 777,is that the Weather Radar is modelled, but personally,I'd not miss it.Overall,a rather totally disappointing big let-down for an FSX product.

Personally, I use the Aerosim Triple Seven with additional ISG, FSFK, CS and DBS avionics, plus add-on TSS sounds. Looks good, sounds good and flies nicely. Takes a bit of work to get all that done, and it's not a cheap option either, but you do end up with a fab 777.2010-5-19_5-41-14-31.jpg2010-5-19_4-36-7-687.jpgAl

The 777 features a 'Wilco Fleet' level of developement. Complexity of some procedures and/or equipment functionnalities may have been reduced to suit beginners and medium skilled simmers.
the 777 was never designed to have the level of detail, such as the 737, ERJs, ejets, CX, and legacy aircraft.she is a 'kick tires and light the fires' plane. simple and easy to use ... a 'taste' of what it is like to pilot a 777. the 'fleet level of simulation' is actually what the majority of FS owners want ('often' posters on avsim.com are not average FS users). high detail in system modeling IS NOT what the average simmer demands.--

Well said. It's easy to forget that when frequenting Avsim, we tend to have a higher proportion of hard core types than is probably representative of the 'average' MSFS user.Al

If you want to fly a real 777 in FSX, wait for PMDG's version...

It is always a good idea to run a search here or ask before buying a product. It is well known that the feelthere/wilco whatever 777 is obscene.I understand that you might want a product bad but you can't buy blind in general and especially with wilco/feelthere, of all things.Ask next time it will save you money :(

I actually bought it for a few reasons. Boredom, it was half price and the dollar was really cheap at the time. Bout a year and a few months ago. The aircraft actually handles and flies very nice, the repaints are nice but I didnt care for the FMC and panel so I swapped the panel out. Other then that it is ok but I will jump on the PMDG when it lands.

Based on my other feelThere products,e.g.PIC 737 and the Embraer ERJ135/145,which are excellently modelled FSX aircraft, with all the features,I took a gamble that this Wilco Pub's offering of the 777 would be in the same standard---what a let-down it proved to be.And,moreover,I do read the reviews in detail and thoroughly, which is why I can use the PMDG/LDS/PSS comparison yardstick

I've had the Wilco 777 for some time and I have to say that I was hoping for more. It's the one aircraft that I reinstall last and never fly. For the longest time I didn't like it for the lack of system difficulting and real system modeling that I see in PMDG's and LvlD's products.I look at it now and see that I never fly it for two reasons, NO ANA livery and a poor VC model. :(POSKY's free 777 has a wonderful VC. If Wilco's was at least at that level of quality it would be something I would want to fly more often. It doesn't need the system detail to be cool.

I understand where you are coming from.I think your assumption would be reasonable if feelthere was pmdg. But feelthere is not pmdg. Not even close.

Since PMDG's 777 is still on the way, and would probably be on the works for about a few months to come, the last option would be the POSKY 777. The VC, although probably missing the FMC the Wilco and PSS models have, are payware quality and fully clickable. They also work with FSX, albeit having no FSX support. The Overland models are OK but are weak on take-offs, has the default 737-800 soundset, and have default gauges in the VC and 2D cockpits.

I think it will be a lot longer than a few months as the 737NX will be hopefully a 3-4 months. I think at least yearly next year. JeffG

The Wilco 777 was one out of 3 Wilco products and one out of 7 other payware add-ons that I only flew once. The flight dynamics were realistic but the model wasn't. Infact, the VC was just terrible, it wasn't even realistic at all. None of the overhead buttons I've seen were clickable. As a result, I only flew the TFS (AI) models so far, and one MelJet aircraft updated by David Grindele.
