Need some help here. I realize this is the FS2004 forum and I'm using FSX, but didn't see any other relevant threads elsewhere. Downloaded and installed and it's working pretty good except that I'm looking at the rear of the plane/cockpit. Using the Cessna 172 to keep it simple, by the way using a Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000 ( to add to the compatibility test ). So why is it defaulting to the rear of the aircraft? How to I fix this? I also have EZDOK installed, enabled or disabled, no change. Thanks for any help, Mark

Ok, I finally figured out that I had to configure the keyboard shortcuts to something that was valid that would 'center' the view. A little more documentation would help with this to understand a few things. What are the EWMA Red factor sliders and there impact? I figured out the 'Invert' portion, but would like to know what impact these sliders have. I've played with them with really impact that I've noticed.Mark

I installed FaceTrackNoIR, but as soon as I launch it, I'm getting these 2 error messages:"Error at loading of ippm library: No DLLs were found in the Waterfall procedure".And after accepting,"The application couldn't be started correctly (0xc0000142). Click on OK for closing" (sorry for the bad traslation). This happens in Windows 7 Home Basic 64-bit in Latin American Spanish. I installed also faceAPI,but I still get the same errors. Is there a way of fixing this?
I finally solved my problem: my mistake was installing the non commercial FaceTracking API. I uninstalled it, downloaded and installed the Head Tracking Demo and now FaceTrackNoIR loads properly. As soon as I land (I'm in the middle of a MAD-BOG flight... guess the airline :() I'll be trying this. But looks promising :( Best regards from Colombia,Luis Miguel

Would someone be able to explain to me how I can use this in FSX? Thanks!

I tried it, and I found 2 things:1) As far as I've tried, I couldn't make it work with WideFS. I use my laptop for running FSMetar and PFE via WideFS, my desktop (P4, 2.8 GHz, single core) has FS installed, with its main FS folder mapped as a network drive in the laptop. In FTNoIR (too lazy for writing the full name) settings, I set the path to the DLL located in the network drive, but it didn't work. Did I do something wrong, or is this just the way it is?2) Luckily I have a copy of FS installed on the laptop (I don't travel without FS). I tried it there, adjusting the curves is a must... specially when looking at a tiny 11.6" screen. Does anybody have some guidelines for calibrating the curves? So far I can say that now I need to save money for upgrading my desktop, because I loved the results :(

Would someone be able to explain to me how I can use this in FSX? Thanks!
I don't know, I don't use FSX (and this is not the FSX forum). But this is what I did for FS9: I opened both FTNoIR and FS. Then File>Open and I selected FS2004.ini (I think you need to select SimConnect.ini, Andrew). Then, in in Game Protocol, I pressed the button Settings. There, it asked me where is FSUIPC. I gave its location and then pressed Start. Went back to VC and saw the results. I understand SimConnect needs less setup, hope this helps.Best regards from Colombia,Luis Miguel

Hello Mark,Have you read the manual on the website? I hope this answers your questions? I know it's not too elaborate, but I know people won't read any manual, that's more than 2 pages long Big%20Grin.gif.

Hello theandrewmillett,Just load the INI-file SimConnect.INI, start FaceTrackNoIR, minimize and then start FSX (I know, this is not the right place for this...).@Imhariano: I'm glad you like FaceTrackNoIR and that you're also trying to help others using it. Makes my work a bit lighter...

Ok, Read the manual, I'll play with some settings and see what happens. Didn't realize that info was there. Up till now, it's been pretty decent, I think part of my issue is the webcam is too close as it will drop when my head points down to far or left or right.

Was really liking the idea of TrackIR but I think at this point I can't justify spending the money on it, so this would be a great alternative. Can anyone who has successfully set this up and has it working proberly give me an honest opinion of FaceTrackNoIR? I ask because I dont have a webcam at all so I would probably be getting one for this task alone and if its not the best I'm thinking i should save the money towards getting TrackIR...

Not sure what has changed, worked fine last week, just too jumpy and needs some tweaking, now it brings my system to it's knees when clicking 'Start'. After clicking 'Settings' and Stop and Start a couple of times, it will finally start to work, promptly followed by a critical error with the debugger (I have Visual Studio on my box) prompting if I want to debug. If it does get further, attempting to change the curves to tweak my settings, it will crash everytime.

I downloaded FreetrackNoIR and when i start it it says the missing .dlls thing. When i installed faceapi that wont start either. PLEASE HELP!

See some answers before. But if you're too lazy for scrolling, see it here:

Use the commercial demo, it's what FaceTrackNoIR wants.Best regards from Colombia,Luis Miguel

and wheres the commercial version? i cant find it!
http://www.seeingmachines.com/product/faceapi/downloads/. Download the Head Tracking Demo, this one is the one that works with FaceTrackNoIR.

Version 1.30 is the last stable one. However, this version does not support FS. Install v1.30 and then the Update 4, which enables support for FS. Hope this helps.Best regards from Colombia,Luis Miguel

I know that this is a FS9 forum but can I use facetracknoir with FSX please?I tried it using FSUIPC4 but it does not work or I am doing something wrong.Really hope I can use it as it sounds good.regardsRichardPS I have tried also using Simconnect.ini but still does work. I have Logitech Webcam C120 and it is working OK. Maybe it is the wrong type to work withfacetracknoir? Also I am using Windows 7 64bit OS.
