Just do a search for "road" in the FS9 scenery section of the Avsim library... among the 50-odd specific addons that happen to have roads in them you'll find several downloads that claim to replace the default road textures with something more realistic. Can't vouch for any of them though - IMO if you're flying close enough to a road to appreciate the realism of the texture it's probably time to appreciate the accuracy of your radio altimeter / GPWS instead...

thanx Tim.but i really would like to hear from someone who uses some replacement and can recommend a specific one.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - what one person thinks is good may not be another's cup of tea.Best bet is to try a few and judge for yourself.

If you use or are going to use (recommended anyway) the Ultimate Terrain series, they add custom road textures too.And they are even customisable to some degree (including pavement and pseudo-traffic).

I use roadpac1. It's old but I was satisfied with it and searched no more. It's in the Avsim library. Search for roadpac1.zip.I'm fairly certain there are more free versions that may be better, but this one worked good.Maybe someone will chime in with a newer free version I want to try. Just my thoughts.

I currently use THESE textures for my roads, railroads, and ground textures. They look better than the UT textures in my opinion.

Do they include traffic!?! If so do the cars move etc?

They do include 'traffic' but when we say 'traffic' in the sense of road textures we mean 'pseudo-traffic'.It's only some still points representing cars put on the bitmap. There will be no moving traffic. If you want moving traffic in FS9 you need to have an addon scenery which has it included but even this will be only in the vicinity of the represented airport.

I have seen one file in the Avsim library (I think it was there) that added moving cars to some major roads (highways, mostly) in northern germany. Can't remember the name or who made it, but you can get *some* moving traffic, albeit not much and you probably won't see it anyway since it's only at that specific region.
