August 13, 201015 yr Are there any decent Lindbergh Field and Midway sceneries? They were two of my favorite airfields in FS9 thanks to FlyTampa's work. August 13, 201015 yr Moderator I wish there was. I could live without the Midway airport since I have a nice version of ORD, but I sure wish someone would do KSAN.There is another fellow on Avsim that goes by the screen name Mike T who in this thread http://forum.avsim.net/topic/287598-time-to-move-to-fsx-seriously/ claims to have figured out a way to convert all his FS9 FlyTampa sceneries to work in FSX.Needless to say I replied to him in that thread asking how to do it as well as sending him 2 PM's. He never replied in either the PM or his thread about how it. So I am guessing he is either full of bologna or doesn't want to share with anyone how to do it. I am leaning toward the first since a few other really knowageble people on here told me it cant be done, as well as the fellows at FlyTampa.Maybe either Lightbeam or FSDT will conquer KSAN one of these days. I'll stick to hope that FlyTampa revists both at some point. August 13, 201015 yr Moderator I'll stick to hope that FlyTampa revists both at some point.Yeah me too. I may have a go at looking into trying to use some parts of the FT version of KSAN at some point. I think that it maybe possible to use the teminals and some of the buildings, but you would have to make a custom ADE to match up and you wouldn't be able to use the custom ground textures. About 6 months ago there was another guy here on Avsim that successfuly converted the FS9 version of Vienna to work in but he had to make a custom ground texture for it. Personally I could live without the custom ground as long as I could get the buildings and terminals to work, it would hold me over until something else comes along. August 13, 201015 yr I'm with you,FlyTampa recently stated they're going to stick to doing smaller airports,Less development time, more airports, more sales.Makes sense to me.I think revisiting Midway for FSX would be a perfect next project,Sorry I'm biased being from Chicago! :)p.s. not sure about a SanDiego scenery but there is a very high quality San Francisco airport in development, Check out the Dev. Work in Progress here......http://www.flightbeam.net/

I take great pride in honesty and truth, however when ignorance rears its ugly head and someone questions my integrity, such as yourself, without knowing squat about what they are taking about I take exception. I don't have to respond to you in time-frames that YOU deem appropriate because, believe it or not, I've got quite a busy life outside of these forums. Secondly, editing and dissemination of COPYWRITED files are FORBIDDEN on this board and a violation of the FlyTampa EULA. The files are for my use only. You want the same then figure it out and stop waiting for someone to spoon feed you.Feel free to observe the FSX screenshots below of both FlyTampa KMDW AND KSAN. No "Cmpbellsjc", ignorance is NOT bliss. Einstein once said: "It's better to keep quiet and be thought of as a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."
August 13, 201015 yr Mike T,If you take great pride in Honesty and Truth, then you should be informed that you can niether land or launch a 747 from Midway!!!!:( just say'in!

No "Cmpbellsjc", ignorance is NOT bliss. Einstein once said: "It's better to keep quiet and be thought of as a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."Mike, first I will apologize if you felt that I was questioning your integerity. I didn't mean it to sound as though I was, so I apologize if that's how you took it. Also I have no idea what ignorance is not bliss and your refernces to ignorance have to do with me asking you how to convert a scenery.Secondly, I understand that it's your choice of whether or not to respond to a post or a PM. Personally when someone asks me on the board or via PM about how to do something or has a question for me specifically I will always at least acknowledge their question and provide some type of response, even if I cant help. I would have been ok with you responding back to me saying that you wont tell me how to do it, and I wasn't asking for the files, just instructions on what I need to do. I understand if you have a busy life, but when I kept seeing that your profile was signed on, I was hoping for at least you to take a minute to acknowlege me. Like I said a simple PM back to me saying sorry but I cant tell you would have been fine.I didn't think that it was a big deal to tell someone how to accomplish what you did. There was another fellow here who posted how to do a complete conversion of the FT FS9 version of Vienna and Avsim even hosted the replacement files to do so. Given that, I didn't think that I was out of line in asking you for assistance.I have always felt that the Avsim community was a good place to share info and when we do share I wouldn't consider it spoon feeding each other. If we all took that approach then no one would learn anything from each other. If you look at my record of posts here on Avsim, I would consider myself to be in good standing with the community, helpfull at times when I learn something I can share, and always respond in good nature. Perhaps I shouldn't have said that maybe you were full of bologna, but truthfully in the age of the internet, you never know. People make all sort of claims and then never have anything to back it up. Seeing your screen shots proves that indeed you have done it.In closing Mike, I am sorry that you took such distain for what I said, and I am sorry that it took this post to get a response from you.I hope you accept my apology and going forward, I promise to never ask you for help or advise in an tweaks concerning the flight sim. That being said if I sit down and figure out how to do this myself and as long as its ok with the FT guys, I will be the first to report back here on what can be done to make these airports work in FSX, as I know a lot of people on here would be delighted to be able to use their older FT sceneries work in FSX.Regards Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
August 14, 201015 yr Mike T,If you take great pride in Honesty and Truth, then you should be informed that you can niether land or launch a 747 from Midway!!!!:( just say'in!LOL!!!! But I get an 'E' for effort, sure I took out the corner grocery store and a few lamp posts...and then one of the flight attendants grabbed a case of beer, popped the emergency slide and ran screaming onto the highway! *sigh* its just not my day :-D
August 14, 201015 yr Ok. Are we all fiends again? So Mike, how did you get them working in FSX? MSFS Premium Deluxe Edition; Windows 11 Pro, I9-9900k; Asus Maximus XI Hero; Asus TUF RTX3080TI; 32GB G.Skill Ripjaw DDR4 3600; 2X Samsung 1TB 970EVO; NZXT Kraken X63; Seasonic Prime PX-1000, LG 48" C1 Series OLED, Honeycomb Yoke & TQ, CH Rudder Pedals, Logitech G13 Gamepad
August 14, 201015 yr Moderator Ok. Are we all fiends again?I hope so, although I dont know since Mike hasn't acknowledged my apology. So Mike, how did you get them working in FSX?He wont say Jeff, however, I am working on KSAN right now as a matter of fact. I also posted a question to the fellows at FlyTampa asking them if it is ok to let others know how to use the FS9 sceneries in some capacity if they cant be fully utilized.I have yet to figure if I can make thier custom ground show up but I have the buildings in there. Need to clean up some textures also.If the FT fellows dont mind me sharing the info I will gladly post back with instructions so that many can enjoy these sceneries to some extent until something better comes along.Regards Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
August 14, 201015 yr Moderator Alan and Jeff,Here's a quick screen of what I have so far. The ADE needs to be adjusted and the tree textures need to be fixed by adding an alpha channel I think so they dont have black boxes around them. I have yet to figure the custom ground but, even if I have to use the default FSX ground textures it will be better than the default. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
August 14, 201015 yr Of course I accept your apology sir, it takes a class act to publically do so! Email me at michael(at)toussaintonline(dot)net when you get the chance. All is forgotten and we move on as brothers of the virtual skies! :(
August 14, 201015 yr Moderator Thanks Mike, it's very much appreciated and again I apologize. It's nice when we can all stick together and enjoy the virtual sky.Email on its way.Regards,Sean Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
