September 21, 201015 yr I just landed in Tahiti (NPPT) from Bora Bora (NTTB) what a flight. I flew the default Cessna Caravan in IFR in a thunderstorm with real time, real weather. I still have a stupid grin on my face! I have been flying heavies for so long I forgot how much fun flying commuter aircraft really is. The default Cessna caravan is fantastic. If you include REX 2.0 weather and textures I felt like I was really there. I have been so hung up flying the heavies I forgot how much fun it was to fly prop aircraft. Any heavy metal flyers still flying some commuter legs? Share your stories. Have you been frustrated lately? Think you have your IFR flying down, have you been scared, or gotten nervous on real weather GA flight?
September 21, 201015 yr I usually fly large passenger aircraft but I just finished a quick flight from TLPL to TVSB in the Flight 1 Islander. Last weekend, I got around to installing all of the PW Caribbean stuff and I have had FT's Grenadines installed for a while. I also updated my GA AI for the Caribbean. Weather was pretty nasty the whole trip but the landing turned out ok.Nice flight. I love island hopping and the Islander is the perfect aircraft for it. The Aerosoft Twin Otter does nicely as well. I will probably get the Carenado Caravan but I am waiting for a few more paints to be released - particularly Caribbean ones. September 21, 201015 yr Commercial Member Some of my best recent flights have been in the Carenado Bonanza and Real Air Duke... I get enough of the heavy stuff considering who I work for haha, it's nice to do the simpler GA stuff at times. September 21, 201015 yr I had so much fun flying around Vancouver+ in the Carenado Cessna 206 but have yet to fly Orbx NA Blue that much. I love flying around in a prop especially with beautiful addon scenery of not only 1 airport but numerous. FlyTampa San Marten Complete is great for this!
September 21, 201015 yr Beating my (our) own drum here, but Greenbrier Virtual Aviation offers a home for those who occasionally (or exclusively) enjoy flying "the lighties"--general aviation aircraft--and picking those out of the way airports to visit. Check us out at Greenbrier Virtual Aviation. Dan George (woodhick)Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.
September 21, 201015 yr Guys,Try Tim Piglet Conrads PC6 for each of those flights you mentioned! Amazing! The handling is just awesome!Alex C
September 21, 201015 yr Don't forget the A2A Piper Cub with Accu-Sim pack. Gives me wonderful low and slow VFR flights :(
September 23, 201015 yr I alo prefer heavies but it is really nice to fly GA from time to time to get rest. Regards,Stan
September 23, 201015 yr I was a real 'Heavy' simmer flying almost everything with a turbo jet engine. An occasional foray into the world of GA with one of the Real Air Birds - the Duke in my repaint, the SF260 or Scout. Then FTX PNW was released and the collection of amazingly detailed airports with scenery. Now all I find myself flying is in the A2A Cub or my particular fave of the moment, Ants freeware Tiger Moth; chugging along at 55KIAS taking in all that majestic scenery, never climbing above 1500'agl. Cross the fence at 45 and hoping to kiss the grass with a perfect three pointer. That's flying. - Dean P3Dv4 & XP11 space

That's flying.true ... that is flying, but so is this......After many, many years of exhaustive training, I am now sitting at the controls of a multi-million dollar aircraft, collecting my 100K+ salary (paid for my know-how). As I descend through the thunderstorm on my approach to New City, with 150 passengers, I realize these people trust that I will get them down safely. As I cross the outer marker with a 25 mph gusting cross wind, my training is being put to the test. As the passengers deplane .. they compliant me and the crew for our smooth landing and on time arrival. Now that's flying! :(

Your years of training has given you the best office view of any job and one i'm deeply envious of. As part of the LDS beta team I've flown many many flights in all sorts of extreme wx, but all just simulated. I can't contemplate those gut wrenching, seat squirming moments you must endure as you're approaching minimums, being blown all over the place and with no runway in sight. What fun. You lucky sob :( - Dean P3Dv4 & XP11 space
