The infamous Martinair MD-11

Featured Replies

FSX Paint looks good Dan, and thanks of course to Christian for getting the ball rolling! It will be nice to fly the old bird and have TOPCAT recognize it as a passenger craft. As you may know, the dry operating weight of the Passenger variant is 124000kg, vs 113850kg for the cargo plane without seats, so it will help to have this paint made available for nitpicky fellas like myself. The ITVV dvd has brought plenty of attention to PMDG's MD11, I was surprised that this livery was never available on PMDG's website for the pass model for so long.

Thanks for the comments and thanks to Dan for the great help. It's a pleasure working with you. Without your help the FSX version would not be possible!

I guess I have found out why Flight Simulator X(XX) is so popular! LOL.gif -Christian Mohr

Anytime, glad to help. Will work on the other when I get home tonight. It's very funny that the only thing in the picture people have picked up on so far is the word "Porn", there are actually several things. Typical guys, only see what they want, haha.

Good work. Looking forward to downloading it when it's complete. That ITVV DVD is what convinced me to buy the PMDG MD-11 so it would be good to have the livery to go with it.Kevin

Dan, Your UI is a classic, I love it! :D, Is there a download link to the repaint, it looks exelent. Also I understand that it's for the Pax model, would it be possible to have a version for the freighter as well, that will make it better as a convertable plane as you can do Pax and F flights.

Christian will be uploading them to Avsim and providing the link when available. I merely converted his already complete textures for FSX format which isn't much work at all. As for the cargo, you could always choose to install a copy of the texture folder to you MD-11F directory and change some of the aircraft.cfg. Christian and I talked about this and I sent my fsx modified aircraft.cfg for people wanting to do that. Doing this though would of course still give you the passenger paint, therefore the pax windows etc. I also sent him an email this morning to disregard those entries I mentioned since the windows would still be shown. I can always post the aircraft.cfg edit if needed. I tested it in various models and due to door seems only one 11F model would really be practical. How do the combi's work in Real life anyway? I imaginge they just put something up inside to protect the glass? I have no clue and don't even fly cargos other than testing doors on paints. It's funny Kevin but for me it was the other way around. It was owning the PMDG MD-11 that inspired me to buy a couple MD-11 DVD's, the Marinair one of course being the better of the two.As for the UI, haha thanks Tim. I lost my internet for a few minutes yesterday and did that in the down time. There are actually 9 things that were changed. Anyone able to see them all?

No,Dan,besides the obvious, which I did not want to comment on because I had a feeling somebody else would also spot it,I liked your customized Pizza Delivery button. What a way to enjoy your hobby and make sure the food gets delivered too.Is that a 'make-mine-a-pepperoni-with-all' available for your pax too? Great FSX repaint.Where can I get it from?

Hello!I have just uploaded both versions - FS 2004 as well as FS X - to the file library. I'd assume that they will be available with the next upload cycle. If nothing changes the file names should be:

  • Martinair_FS2004_PMDG_MD-11.zip (FS 2004 Version)
  • Martinair_FSX_PMDG_MD-11.zip (FS X Version)

Both liveries are meant to be used with the PAX version of the MD-11. But as Dan has already written an optional aicraft.cfg for the freighters is included in the readme. If you can live with two operating forward cabin doors and you want the cargo door to open the latter is the option you should go for. A big thanks goes to Dan (turbine777) for converting the original textures for Flight Simulator X. Without his help this would be FS 2004 only. All textures are handpainted and I have tried to include all the small details I could spot on the old photos.Have fun flying Amsterdam to Palma de Mallorca guys.-Christian Mohr

Hmm, perhaps, but would depend how you counted I suppose. Feel free to list them all and I will let you know the rest. Not to worry about it spoiling it for others. I can always make a new one.

Hello Dan,I hope I get it right, the marked part simply means that after MEDIL you are expected to fly a ground speed of around 430 kts and your flight level changes to FL 370. For example: assuming you have flown Flight Level 360 before, you can plan to change to FL 370 after passing MEDIL.If you have filed a flight plan like this ATC knows your intenions a bit earlier and can give you the respective instructions when it's time. With this method you can include the different RVSM, airway, etc. restrictions and step climbs as far as I know. Someone correct me if am wrong please. The files for the Martinair Classic livery are availabe in the AVSIM file library. For the persons who prefer direct links, here you go:

Have fun flying the bird around. More liveries to follow soon.Cheers!Christian
