You would need to use the (free) Traffic Tools utility by Lee Swordy to compile those txt files into a useable Traffic file.http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=ttools202.zip&CatID=root&Go=SearchHowever be aware that you must have the actual aircraft installed which are called for in the aircraft.txt files or the Traffic will not be displayed.Hope that helps.

Do you mean you have FS2002 .txt Afcad files which you want to convert to FS2004 (FS9) .bgl files? If they are traffic files (aircraft, airport, flight plan ), then follow OPA's instruction. If they are definitely Afcad files meant for use in FS2002, then I don't know that there is an easy way to convert them for FS9 use without remaking them with afcad 2.21 or ADE9X.Colin B

Hi,I don't know if there is an easy way to convert those files to bgl but I usually search the library for an AF2 file corresponding to the scenery. Most of the time, with all the free stuff there is for FS9, there are more than a couple of files available.

Hmnn - I overlooked the fact that the OP stated the txt files were created by the afcad program - I don't think I have ever seen that.I assumed he meant the package included the usual txt files used by Traffic Tools to become a viable Traffic file.Perhaps the OP will clarify his statement.

If those sceneries came with AF .txt files, then they were designed for FS8. All but the afcad file will work with those sceneries. If you find an FS9 afcad file for these, and the object coordinates are the same, it might work if the scenery works.First search the libraries here to see if an afcad file was created for this scenery already.A problem with using an FS8 scenery to replace an FS9 scenery is the possible shifting of the airport and improper exclusions and flatten coverage for FS9 default airport objects.A search in FS9 scenery on flightsim.com on "Finland" turned up four complete airports and one city.Without knowing what airports you are using it is hard to make recommendations. Search by ICAO. Also search in the AFCAD2 section here and other sites. Several came up for default and add-on airports on flightsim.com. One might work for you.If you have afcad 221 read the help file topic about converting previous versions. It explains why no utility is offered.

In FS2000/2k2, airports were done differently. The visual scenery such as runways were done with scenery bgls, and the AI and ATC data was handled in a separate "airport facility data" bgl file. AFCAD ver 1 edited directly the default afd files. The text files were designed to allow distributing the changes. The text file could be imported into AFCAD ver 1 and edited or installed, and there was also a stand-alone installer that would directly update the afd file from the text file.scott s..

It's been a long time since I did that work in FS8. I don't recall any .bgl files to download for FS8 for afcad purposes. Just an aging mind.

That's correct, because AFCAD1 and the installer edit the default ones on the user system. Since each user might have different modded airports, there was no way to distribute a bgl file. AFCAD and the installer also had options to remove the mods from the default files. This list of mods to remove was unique to each user, based on the mods that had been made previously. FS9 introduced the "DeleteAirport" function, which allowed for bgl files in a higher priority scenery layer to replace default airport facility data, so modding the default files is no longer needed.scott s..
