November 9, 201015 yr Hi guys,I was getting the dreaded error code 76 after a period of unuse with FS2004 which confused me.Basically, I know I have to define the .flt.wx path but where do I define it to in a default FS2004 setup? where are my .flt/.wx files?Secondly, I have payware scenery for Amsterdam Schiphol, the ATC controller on RCv4 gave me approach directions for 36C, once I got below 10000ft I noticed he directed me to runway 9, there isn't a runway 9 that i'm aware of and it didn't have an ILS frequency. Requesting another runway was denied due to traffic. Is this due to my problem above? Thanks,Luke.
November 9, 201015 yr Moderator Hi guys,I was getting the dreaded error code 76 after a period of unuse with FS2004 which confused me.Basically, I know I have to define the .flt.wx path but where do I define it to in a default FS2004 setup? where are my .flt/.wx files? The default path to your flt files with XP is C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files. If you're using Windows7 then perhaps someone else can help. Secondly, I have payware scenery for Amsterdam Schiphol, the ATC controller on RCv4 gave me approach directions for 36C, once I got below 10000ft I noticed he directed me to runway 9, there isn't a runway 9 that i'm aware of and it didn't have an ILS frequency. Requesting another runway was denied due to traffic. Is this due to my problem above? If you're referring to the Mega Scenery Schiphol scenery there certainly is a runway 09/27. I watched aircraft take off on it on Saturday evening waiting for my return flight to Manchester.I suspect you haven't run MakeRunways. Download v4.41 from hereand run it. Ray (Cheshire, England). November 9, 201015 yr Requesting another runway was denied due to traffic.I know I am taking this thread off topic, but I never have run into this. RC will really deny a runway change request? If so that is pretty cool, I do this infrequently, but it has always been granted to me, both in air for approach and on ground for takeoff. November 10, 201015 yr Author Thanks Ray - I have just ran Make Runways, do I place the rc4 csv file in the Radar Contact folder in Program Files?Unfortunately I won't be able to test until Thursday due to work, I shall report back later in the week.
November 10, 201015 yr If FS resides on the same workstation RC's scenery rebuild routine will execute makerwys in your FS folder and when that completes it will actually copy r5.csv to RC's data folder renaming it r4.csv. It will then create a4.csv from r4.csv. On a VISTA or Win 7 your rc .exe should have advanced properties set to run it as an administrator so the Win security issues do not get in the way. The scenery database resides in your rcv5\data folder. The operation is similar if RC is on a network client with the exception RC will tell you to run makerwys.exe (in your FS folder) and let it know when it is done. When you click OK RC the copies the host r5.csv to its data folder on the client renaming it to r4.csv and then builds a4.csv. Be sure your client computer has read/write/create/execute privileges on the host to your FS folder. The same should be true for your host computer having privileges on your client. Each step requires you to enter OK. After the last OK give RC about a minute to write the last data file. If you cancel incorrect data will be copied or none at all.To check for success go into the \data folder under RC and right click for properties on r4.csv and a4.csv. The modified time/date stamp should be near the time of your rebuild procedure.
November 12, 201015 yr Author Ok, did a test flight from Manchester (EGCC - EGAA) Aldergrove. It seems RCv4 wants me to depart/land on the least commonly used runway. This is so confusing as I have ran make runways. For example if AI are departing on 05L at EGCC, i'll be told to take off from 05R, and when I get vectors for EGAA they want me to land on runway 17 instead of the main runway 25.Any ideas?
November 12, 201015 yr RC looks at AI direction, primarily. At EGCC it looks like 5R would actually be unless pressed into service otherwise a take-off runway. It only has an ILS at one end (23R) for landing traffic. Take-off on 5R also requires a taxi-back.5L/23R would be a preferred landing runway as a localizer/ILS is available at both ends. There may be restrictions in the scenery afcad. At EGAA 17 and 25 have ILSs and would be preferred by RC if no AI are present. Your AFCAD should match. Finally, did you check the dates on the r4.csv in your RCv4\data folder file to see if it updated with your last run?
November 12, 201015 yr Author Hi Ron,Thanks for your advice, I have checked the date and it corresponds with what i've been doing. I've no idea why suddenly RC wants to use the most infrequently used runways, it doesn't make sense, as it was working properly a few months back.
November 12, 201015 yr I'm not entirely sure of the cause or solution but I remember reading in another forum that there is an issue with the way MS have set up the approach arrangements at EGCC in FS9 and this causes unexpected runway assignments for AI and user aircraft. The true solution may be an ADE-based AFD file with revised approaches, but I think I read this long before ADE had been conceived.John My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org
November 12, 201015 yr Author Thanks John, the problem is, FS was fine a few months ago, I haven't touched it until now and it's vectoring me to the wrong runways. Should I send a log to JD?

In cases like this I just request a different runway.JD uses a set of rules to determine the landing runway and he probably chooses the same as the Ai are using rather than the longest available. He will be able to answer that better than I. You can of course request an alternative landing runway should you wish to. Ray (Cheshire, England). November 13, 201015 yr Commercial Member Thanks John, the problem is, FS was fine a few months ago, I haven't touched it until now and it's vectoring me to the wrong runways. Should I send a log to JD?yep, only way i can tell what's happening on your machine. keep in mind, if the something changed, which caused the ai to change which runway they use, rc is going to follow the aijd JD Read my blog
