Recently, not only on these forums, but other flight simulation forums as well, there have been loads of negative thoughts/comments on the upcoming Microsoft Flight. Now, lets break it down to make it all clear....Microsoft Flight is probably in early development still. We shouldn't expect a release for around a year. Only one in-game video has been released so far -- Webisode 2. It's only a 1 minute video, but gives you a basic idea of what improvements have been made. Again it's the only video, and for everyone to judge off of that one little video is not right. Not much is shown. Just a single airport and a single plane. We have no clue what the whole world will look like, what aircraft will be included, and how much detail will be added. We need to just stop with the negative comments. No one ever asked for them and it's not helping anything. Give Flight a chance. It could succeed, or it could fail. We will have to WAIT UNTIL THE RELEASE to say negative things about it, when we can really fly it and see it for ourselves. From what I understand, this forum is for posting updates/news, along with your ideas of what features Flight should include. Not for everyone to come and say, "Looks like FSX" or "What a waste of time." Because, who knows? It might just end up being the new FS2004 -- a huge success. The next time you have that urge to say something negative about Flight based on the little info we have, think long and hard, "will this really help anyone and is it even necessary?"Brandon :(

Using the same logic, no one should be saying anything positive about Microsoft Flight either. Until the program is released and you get to try it on your own computer anything you hear or see from Microsoft regarding Flight is almost meaningless. Remember that it is not a good program or a bad program at this point in time. For all intents and purposes it is a nonexistent program not worthy of any comments.Regards, Mike MannP.S. It still is fun to bash Microsoft though and they don't mind since they are laughing all the way to the bank!!

Actually, no, it's pretty much for posting anything you want related to Flight, so long as it's done in a civil manner. However, I do agree that there has been a lot of negative comments, which seems a bit premature considering we've only got a little tease of Flight so far. It may very well be the next FS9, which is still holding it's own just fine. I just hope that the folks at MS are listening to what the community really wants from the new sim because there's a lot we can all, or at least most agree on, such as sloped runways, improved ATC, etc.

The proof will be in the pudding as you say. Some people are just negative, others are justifiably so. Microsoft (MS) has rarely bothered to interact with their customers. They make products on a "take it or leave" it basis which is arrogant to say the least. FSX was better than FS2004 which was better than FS2002 and so on. MS Flight will probably be better than all of them, but none have been great. Microsoft simply hasn't had any real competition, which tells us something about the very limited marked for a flight simulator in the first place. What has made FS great in the latter years is the addon freeware and payware scene. MS has been generous in providing us with the SDK for FS. Let's hope they continue with that and even release some scenery creation tools themselves. As for interaction MS has failed miserably. The FS Insider website was a great starting point that never evolved into something useful. Where are the feedback options, the user polls and the support forums? The FS crowd is a small one, but many of us have been using FS for 20+ years. That makes us passionate about the product. That passion should be acknowledged and harvested by MS.

Well, a few of the Aces folks were very involved right here at AVSIM. Phil Taylor comes to mind as someone who was in these forums helping people quite frequently, myself included. Sadly, they weren't treated so great by some folks, and became the subject of some assinine and hateful comments. As great as Geof and David did ridding the forums of foul comments, it was a losing battle for far too long. I can't blame them for the sour taste that must have been left in there mouths. However, I agree that it would have been nice if Aces or MS had its own forum that they could have moderated to their liking. Perhaps we can offer the development team a forum right here at AVSIM when the time comes.

I recall that as well, so hats off to those generous souls! Some of the ACES memebers even found time to blog. But as I see it, it should not be the responisiblity of those individuals, but of MIcrosoft as an organization to provide support and tutorials on how to get the most out of their products. Sadly the Internet has it's share of "forum spammers", but I guess most of them are very sad and lonely individuals crying out in vain for help. These commenters are easily ignored, and hopefully nobody goes hiding under a rock because of them. I've seen forums where members can choose to ignore (hide all comments) from certain participants. I haven't checked if this is possible here at AVSIM.

some see the glass half full and some see it half empty ... just the way of the world.

Why ignore someone just because the see it differently ....  wheres the civility in that? :(

You have to be joking mate, a forum should be about open discussion, if I wanted news/updates I would go to Flights homepage. Sounds to me as if you have a hard time accepting other peoples ideas and thoughts, personally I enjoy coming here and reading ALL opinions on Flight. I welcome both negative and positive opinions, because it's real unfiltered stream of thought in the moment that matters not filtered discussion held back by too little information IMO.

It’s interesting how subjective this is.For me - I’ve found MS’s interaction with us to be above and beyond. They’ve regularly hosted developer conferences. They’ve attended all the Avsim conferences…made presentations…held Q&A sessions.Even drinks at the hotel bar - until last call no less ;)They also attended a house party to launch Squawkbox. They’ve allowed and encouraged blogs and limited forum discussion. And they’re presenting material for the next release, and it’s not even beta.As I see it, all that adds up to a pretty good record. But there's always room to improve :(

I guess it is definitely a good idea not to bite the hand that feeds you!! Good thinking Microsoft, barley sandwiches for all.Regards, Mike Mann

Lol, come to think of it drinks weren’t on MS’s tab. But let’s add that to the wish list for Flight :)

I think you must have misunderstood what I wrote completely. It's a huge difference between seeing things differently and spamming the forums with off-topic, irrelevant, offensive and hateful comments...

It sure is subjective, but on behlaf of myself and the average FS user, there was no houseparty, developer conference or drinks to be had anywhere near my neighbourhood... :)

It is a big planet…so don't expect one in your neighborhood :)The closest Avsim conference to me was 150 miles away...that was fortunate...but still pretty risky in my car.If you’re in the US, Avsim has done an excellent job of picking cities in different parts of the country.Still the majority of people have to travel.I haven’t gone every year of course, but when I could afford it I felt justified…Avsim is a good cause. And I enjoy a chance to meet other average FS fans. The ‘drinks’ is just a joke of course, but the point is MS attended these fan organized meetings.(...and you could have too ;)Who knows…is Activision as accessible to their fans?
