November 30, 201015 yr Dear PMDG,Some airliners are flying with open eyebrows and some with closed. Does the PMDG 737NGX come with an option to open and or to close the eyebrows?Closed Eyebrows Open EyebrowsRegards,Steven Steven Albi
November 30, 201015 yr Author Yes it does from what I've heard on the PMDG forums. Pmdg have confirmed this.Oki. Thank you! Steven Albi
November 30, 201015 yr Commercial Member It isn't just something you can "open" or "close" - it's a modification to the airplane - the windows are actually blocked off with metal in the "closed" ones. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com

December 1, 201015 yr There's actually three possible "options" - eyebrows, plugged eyebrows, or straight from the factory planes with the mod completely integrated. Is PMDG modeling all three? I
December 1, 201015 yr It just seems to me that far more pilots think those eyebrows are just stupid, and that more and more of the newly delievered 737 NGs are delievered in the Whoppi fashion (no eyebrows).Have seen a few 737s and Md80s taxiing around the airport with magazines or newspapers up there to block the light from those things. December 1, 201015 yr I was getting some right seat time in the 1900D,And the captain was giving me grief for visually scanning before making a turn,He said that's what TCAS is for.I think its the same concept with the eyebrow windows. I still like to scan for traffic before a turn.Edit..... Forgot to say that I was headed for Augusta Maine on a VFR summer day,All the more reason to keep my head on a swivel! December 1, 201015 yr Anyone who relies solely on TCAS when they are also equipped with a pair of eyes is being rather stupid, especially since not taking a look before you turn is likely to be a habit you'll transfer to other aircraft which might not have TCAS, and in a busy circuit, that's asking for a mid air collision.Back on topic, for the curious, the eyebrow windows are an option that not many airlines now take although they are still (theoretically) available for any customer which specifies them. That would tend to be only military versions which might be aerially refueled or flown in formation. The non eyebrow versions are either made like that (since 2005) or will have been modified with a retrofit kit. Without the eyebrow windows the aircraft sheds about 20lbs in weight and is quieter on the flight deck, but the main reason they've been ditched by most airlines is that there are four less windows to inspect and maintain, so it saves time and money. Sort of a shame in a way, it was a bit of a Boeing trademark.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
