Does this have to do with the PMDG server?

This evening I have been in and out of FSX a few times with no problems. Then as I was about to do one little quick flight, I launched FSX at the airport I wanted but forgot to select the plane, which in this case was the J41. So, I opened the drop down menu to select a/c and when I clicked on the J41 my screen turned black and nothing happened. I was able to press the ESC key and get the window to pop up which gives you the option to continue flight or exit. I chose to exit and when the main FSX menu came back up I had a small window open that said that FSX needed to be activated. I just pressed cancel and exited all together.I then noticed in the folder where the FSX.cfg resides that I also had the fsx.cfg text file along with the regular cfg file, which normally indicates something went wrong. I deleted the text file and used CCleaner to do a quick flush and also opened my temp folder and noticed there were some new files and log files in it which aren't normally there after a session in FSX. I deleted those as well.I then opened FSX up and it was fine. I went to the A/C menu and selected the J41 and once again got a pop up box that said FSX needs to be activated. I pressed cancel and loaded the flight to see what would happen. Well, the flight loaded but most of the stuff in the J41 wouldnt work like the lights, panel lighting, etc. I closed FSX and repeated the steps I did in the first go around when this happened. Keeping in mind that I have owned the J41 for at least six months now and it has already been activated.I once again opened FSX and selected a few different planes, including the only other PMDG plane I own for FSX which is the 747, and everything worked fine and I didn't get any pop ups saying that FSX needed to be activated. So what I what I am wondering is with the PMDG server being worked on, does this mean that when we load FSX and try to fly with an already activated J41 that it causes the problem I am experiencing? I had activated the J41 probably more than 6 months ago, but maybe since the server is down at the moment FSX is trying to find a valid code? Not sure what is going on all of the sudden with FSX needing to be re-activated suddenly when selecting that one plane so I though I would ask here since the J41 was mentioned in the other thread concering activations being down. Thanks in advance.Regards,Sean Campbell

Sean-I wonder if perhaps you are confusing the PMDG BAe JS4100 re-activation window and the FSX re-activation window? I suspect in this case that it is actually our JS4100 requesting reactivation... If FSX itself were requesting activation- it would happen long before you get into the sim environment- it would happen shortly after the FSX splash screen appears.Your JS4100 becoming deactivated is not related to the server transitions we are undertaking- but your inability to reactivate it right now is obviously an issue...Hope that helps...

Hi Robert. Thanks for the quick reply, I didn't expect to hear anything back so soon.Well, to be honest, the screen that came up looked like it was asking for an FSX activation, but now that you mention it maybe it was asking for the J41 activation.Although if that is the case I don't know why it would need an activation again after all this time. I just flew it shortly a few weeks ago and it was working. What I was thinking is that maybe when I try to load that a/c, it automatically checks it against the server which is down and it wont load with all the options working. The last plane I installed was the 747, but have flown the J41 since then and it was fine.Having said that I will load FSX and try to load the J41 and see what screen is comming up and post a shot here for you to see. Thanks again and I will let you know what happens.Sean Campbell

Robert,I opened FSX again and try to load the JS4100 and here is a screen shot of what popped up.The reason I was assuming it was for FSX activation was since it said "Enter activation code included with the game". Since it said "game" I was assuming it was refering to FSX and not the JS4100.Here's a pic of a log file that was generated in my Temp folder after FSX crashed.I will check back in a few hours after I get some rest to see if its the JS4100 that needs to be reactivated or is a problem with FSX when I try to load that plane.Regards,Sean Campbell

Yes, that window is for the JS41 activation and it can't be activated while the PMDG servers are down so you won't be able to fly it.Molly Norris

Thanks Molly. I didn't remember the JS4100 activation window looking like that when I first installed it, but its been so long I guess I dont remember what it looked like.I wonder why sudddenly it needs to be activated again. I haven't doen anything to my FSX install that messed with any of my a/c or Simobjects folder or gauges for that matter. It will be interesting to see if it suddenly begins to work again once the server is back up.Sean Campbell

Sean-That activation is ineed for the JS4100...(Good point on the wording though... we'll have to change that...)We are close to bringing the licensing server back online. Once we do you'll be able to activate normally.

Oi Victor, tudo bom?Yeah that is a good question since I am in Texas.Well, over the holidays I spent a few weeks in Rio, namely Ipanema, Arpoador and Leblon, and while I am not much of a drinker of beer or alcohol, I totally loved Brahma Chopp and Skol for that matter, but prefered Brahma.I will say this as well, not only is Brahma Chopp one of the nicest things about Brasil, but you could also throw in Antarctica Guarana, Café Pilão, cachaça and caipirinhas, picanha, feijoada, churrascarias, beaches, women, etc., etc. In fact there's not much I dont like about Brasil.I guess it also helps that my girl friend speaks fluent Portuguese and 99% of her friends are Brasilian, a few being cariocas. I also have a buddy that lives in Rio that I actually had been talking to over at terra-brasilias.org and when I went to Rio we met up and spent the day over at Santos Dumont. He got us in over by the guard gate on 02R and we spent hours taking pics of the a/c that were landing and taking off. Forunately the wind was the right direction that day and 02R and 02L were in operation which gave us a great view of landings as they were comming from Sugar Loaf. We were only about 40 to 50 feet from 02R and were about as close as you could get, which is something you cant do at airports in the US.I am lucky that in the US I can buy Pilão and Guarana, and we have a few churrascarias where I can get my fill of picanha and feijoada, but no one sells Brasilian beers in Texas, except at the churrascarias, but no Brahma and Skol. Sean-It could be a number of different things... I'd have to analyze your specific activation record to know- but I'm a bit busy to do so at the moment, sorry!

Ryan or Robert,This evening I tried for the first time since I posted this message to load up the JS4100.As usual and as depicted in the screen shots I posted in this thread I got the pop up window asking for activation. I went ahead and entered the number from me receipt email that said lic1: JS41-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx. Keeping in mind to only enter the part that starts with JS41 and goes from there. Once I entered the code into the box to activate I got a another pop screen that said Failed Activation - Unlicensed Copy. Will not perform as expected. After that I shut down FSX and rebooted and tried again, this time entering the code manually and still the same pop up box.Frankly, I cant see what I am doing wrong or how the product became un-activated in the first place. I flew the plane fine for months with no problem even a week or two before your servers went down, now suddenly it wont work or activate. If needed I can PM you guys my activation code if needed to you can check it out. Regards,Sean Campbell
