October 29, 200322 yr Heaven is a DC-3 flying right and making all the proper noises, an autumn sunset and Holger Sandmann's new mesh and scenery for British Columbia. It's just breathtaking in FS2004. Thank you, Holger, for such fantastic work.I compared it too, by flying in the default environment first. What a difference when I loaded Holger's work. If you've never flown British Columbia (no, it's not near Birmingham or next to Panama either) then go and find it now. You'll feel all warm and fuzzy. Or maybe that's an oil leak ... hmmm...Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
October 29, 200322 yr "You'll feel all warm and fuzzy."Indeed. It is absolutely breathtaking! Just flew over it for 45 minutes (surely, more to see) in the Lancair Legacy. It was like being in flightsim heaven!:-beerchug to Holger for an outstanding effort.
October 29, 200322 yr I bet the Canadians are loving that thread title ;)Racartronit means something, but I just can't remember what
October 29, 200322 yr Author Commercial Member Howdy:well, I doubt that presidents have much time for simming ("Mr. President, would you please listen for just a moment, Sir? And would you mind turning down the speakers just a tad? The Vice President can hear it in his NORAD bunker in you-know-where!"), so I gratefully decline. Besides, us Canadians don't have Presidents, other than those for the local knitting clubs. Thanks for the kind words, though; much appreciated! Hope you enjoy the enhanced landscapes as much as the "President" does. I posted a few more screenshots in these two threads:http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/dcforum/DC...D8/33050.html#6http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=17354&page=Cheers, Holger
October 29, 200322 yr Holger, I tried your scenery around Banff last night. I agree it is fantastic. I have a few problems with it though and not sure what is wrong. A few of the lakes have what appear to be small streams running through them with associated borders. Also one of the lakes in the valley has an elevation problem and it appears to be related to the new or old shoreline as that is where it drops off into a lower area of lake. I followed the directions for install and also renamed the two HP bgl files as you asked to in the readme.I will try again, as it looks really nice, but both attempts have resulted in this problem. I wil try to upload a screen of it later.Hornit
October 29, 200322 yr You mean Canada is not an American state? I thought I read in the papers here that America ruled the world? (ooooh, stop it Mark, stop it)Knitting clubs, eh? I can think of a bloke with Presidential training whom we might just send up your way.I'll shut up now. Holger, I shall fly my "Roosevelt" DC-3 (DC3ARCO.ZIP) up your way tonight just for the sake of it.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
October 29, 200322 yr Holger, if an Austrian actor can be governator of California, I'm not sure why a Canuck can't be pres....I'll vote for ya...we need some more knitting clubs here in the states.Congrats on the great responses to your work...Bob B
October 29, 200322 yr Some screens in the screenshot forum of this magnificent add-on, THANK YOU! Its superb. I had renamed the wrong bgl files, that was my problem...DOH!Hornit
October 29, 200322 yr Author Commercial Member Hi:phew, Hornit, you had me scared there for a moment; definitely wouldn't want to get caught uploading a faulty 30MB file ;-)Beautiful screenshots - thanks for sharing!A question: people with slow modems or those who are happy with the default terrain might still be interested in the enhancements that would work in default FS2004 or 2002, such as the landclass files or the lake elevation fixes in the Revelstoke to Castlegar area. I could upload a small file that contains just those fixes but it would require some adjustments (and a different read-me, sigh) and so I'd like to find out first if there's an interest in this. Any feedback is appreciated.Cheers, Holger
October 29, 200322 yr A great contribution. Thanks for the many hours for these great improvements. Might be my imagination, but I think my frame rates are even better in the new scenery. Thanks again.Mac
October 29, 200322 yr B.C. is already the best place to fly in flightsim and Holger you make it even bester.(How does the title "Secretary-General" sound?)BlairCYOW
October 29, 200322 yr Great job Holger! I flew into Castlegar in a Dash 8 this morning, man is that a hard approach! I landed on the third go around. Then I flew up to Nelson - I like the dams!I had the pleasure of travelling through the Kootneys a year ago, what beautiful part of the world. Your mesh and landclass really bring it to life.
October 29, 200322 yr Holger,I'd be interested in a separate, smaller package of the landclass files, since I already have FSGenesis Canadian mesh installed.John
October 29, 200322 yr John, I have FSGenesis mesh too. It's worth installing Holger's mesh over top of the FSGenesis mesh, because it fixes a lot of anommallies like the problems at Banff, Revelstoke and Castlegar. I just installed it as described in the readme, and it works perfectly.
