Saitek SST X52 Profile Woes

Featured Replies

Hi All. Am having one hek of a problem with my X52 stick for several weeks now and can't seem to fix. Have contacted Saitek tech. support but no reply yet so thought i would see if any fellow PMDG drivers (or any other a/c) have come across this one. I am running Win7 (64bit) Pro and have downloaded, redownloaded, installed, uninstalled and reinstalled the latest W7-64bit drivers and software and just can't solve this issue. If i use my x52 as just plug and play and use FSX controls settings options, everything works just great. Only trouble is i can't program all of my PMDG 747 into my X52 buttons without SST profiling software and this is where my problem starts. As soon as i load a profile everything works great for a few commands and then things go south. FSX freezes up, mouse operation become eratic or stops and then i have a problem exiting FSX. After finally getting back to my desktop, if i try to go back into FSX, the start up dialog just sits there and i cant even end task through my Task Manager and have to 'Force Restart' after which as long as i don't load a profile (Any profile including Saitek's own) everthing works just great. Only trouble is without profiling capability i could have just stayed with my old AV8R and saved myself some money. If anybody has any ideas or knows whot i am doing wrong, i would be so greatfull as i have been at this for weeks and just can't nail it down and am starting to wonder if i'm ever going to solve. Thanks in Advance,Rick.

Are you using the X52 or the X52PRO? Have you tried the 32 bit drivers?

I am glad to here that someone feels like i am starting to feel. I was figuring it has to be something i did wrong as i have read so many posts from people that use this software with all kinds of success. However i am still all ears if somebody has a solution. Being fairly new to the more sofisticated controllers, can i do the same thing with a registered FSUIPC as with the SST software?

Yep, if you have registered FSUIPC, you do not need the the programming software from Saitek.Obviously, you will need the drivers, but if you have Windows 7, they are already included without the need to install _any_ software from Saitek.

Thanks Adrian. If i don,t solve this soon then this is the way i will go. It just bugs me to have to put out more cash to do something that should have been included with my product. Not a good adertisement for Saitek! (Whine, Whine)

No worries. If i were you, id get FSUIPC anyway. Much more than just a joystick controller. Weather fixes, autosaving, etc. Also, what is really cool, you can assign buttons on a per-aircraft basis. So lets say, you want to create a macro / button assignment for the LOC button on the PMDG 747, but on another plane, you want the same button to do something totally differnt. With FSUIPC you can.Honestly, you need it. SST is more hassle than its worth.

Many thanks. Had no idea. Funny how somebody else can come up with sothing that works yet the the manufacturer doesn't appear to be able to for thier own product. Thanks again.

With FSUIPC you cannot use all the 3 different modes (X52 pro) which -at least for me- makes it not that good.I prefer to have different key assignments for take off in mode 1 and approach in mode 2.Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Max choice without the keyboard is why i bought the X52 but considering the problems i am having, Adran's suggestion is the best so far.

I remember having some problems (far less important than what you describe though) with the original and very buggy SSD edition. However they were all solved with a newer release I found in the Saitek webpage. In any case I agree that your best next option is FSUIPC although I personally find it quite hard to setup...

Hello.I personnaly have not found any troubles getting everything setup though I'm using the X52 Pro, but as far as I know differences are quite simple between both hardware, I'm using the SST which I found to be working nicely and used it to setup some leyshortcuts in the PMDG mainly Authothrust and AP disconnect as well as TOGA for the 747. I don't know but except running everythign as admin, install, as well as software and FSX, if you've not tried.

I am 99.9% sure the problem is not FSX or PMDG as i have been running with many other add-ons for a long time with absolutely no issues and even with my X52 'EXCEPT' when activating a SST profile. However as for the rest of your suggestion, i tend to agree and will be doing a complete uninstall and removal of all saitek related software including unplugging from USB at back of my PC and this time not plugging back in untill prompted by driver installation procedure (I think i had the X50 plugged in before driver installation originally)and then install SST software. I will be doing this tonight and will post result. Thanks for your input,
