So When & Where?

Incredably, I boosted my frame rate 8 to as much as 12 FPM''s!!!
Perhaps if you had written "Incredibly, I boosted my framerates by between 8 and 12 fps" it would have been clearer what you meant. What you wrote implies that your original framerate was 8 and you had increased it to 12.

Hello Actually i can understand your anger, but you shouldn't quit on these forums ,if you keep yourself to the 2004 and FSX forums and you have real issues with your sim of choice ,I think you will find MOST of us are helpful and polite in our responses. Why the FLIGHT forums seem to be inhabited by such very angry people I don't know.Lots of testosterone in evidence, 'My PC is better than yours' as is my job,my car,my house etc etc etc. Just one reason's i don't post here that often.A distinct lack of tea drinking could be the problem..But I just don't know.Have a brew and chill sim peoples.Cuppa.gifAndy

I completely do not understand his anger.  How can people you don't know, will never see, and by his admission he thinks they are 12 years old. ... How can a person be angry in a set of circumstance such as these?

Since he's stated he won't read any further replies here (yea, like anyone actually believe that!)......what he's failed to grasp is that the term is FPS (Frames Per Second), not FPM (Frames Per Minute)! :( Honestly, with his attitude, he won't be a member of AVSIM much longer I suspect. At the age of sixty-two, I don't have time for his hubris...

I'm terribly sorry Rich but what you wrote is not offending me in any way shape of form.I am just stating that you were unclear in explaining how your changes affected your systems performance. If that makes me an idiot yahoo 12 year old for not understanding what you are trying to express then so be it. For the record I have a Core 2 8500 at only 3.14Ghz and a 9800GT graphics card so no I am not offended by the fact that you don't have an i7 (nor am I even jealous that your PC is better than mine)What I do have a problem with is your advice to people that they cut a hole in their PC case and install a couple of fans and your claim that "You haven't got much to lose. Maybe $35.00 and an hour of your time, and if it dosen't help, it certainly shouldn't hurt." First problem is that cutting holes in your case will almost certainly void any warranty you have. If anyone follows your advice and has any other problems with their PC then the warranty repairer will take one quick look at the big hole you've cut in the side of your case and stamp "WARRANTY VOID" on your PC. That could be a very expensive mistake.Second problem is that you failed to identify the real cause of your problem. I suspect that either your motherboard, graphics card or BIOS may have been automatically throttling back your CPU or Graphics Card clock rate when temperatures got too high (to prevent damage to your system). I would recommend that anyone planning on following your advice first download one of the many system checking programs and make sure that their temperatures and clock speeds are operating correctly. If your system is already operating within normal limits than adding additional cooling may well have zero effect on your framerates. Remember, everyone's system is different and what may work for one person may well not work for another. Thirdly, if anyone does decide to install some more fans (which is never a bad thing to do, you can't have too much cooling in a PC) then please check your case before cutting any holes. Most cases will have additional mounting points for extra fans and I recommend that people install any additional fans in these locations before taking to their PC with a drill and hacksaw. For example, you may have room to mount two fans in front of your HD bays but only have one installed). On my system I have room for 5 case fans (and I have four installed)BTW fpm is generally accepted in the aviation community as the abbreviation for feet per minute. Wishing you all the bestAnthony
