Made some tweaks within my FS9/Effects folder....couldn't read the files so I opened one of them on desktop (Vista 64)in notepad so I could edit...when I saved the file it changed all my .fx files within the effects folder to notepad. How do I change/reassociate the files back to their original format?ThanksRich Perry

Did it really change the extension to something else?Just associating fx files with Notepad "should" only mean that they will be automatically opened in Notepad when you click on any of them. The fx extension should not have been disturbed.Would you please clarify what you are actually seeing when you go to your effects folder? i.e. are the names as they were - example: is Cntrl_OldFaithfull.fx still named that way?

I think he means he just wants to disassociate .fx files from notepad. Why I can't imagine unless there's some other type of file on his setup with .fx extension

That's why I always set windows explorer to show file extensions. As long as I have that I don't care what the file association is.scott s..

Just for future reference, you can right-click on any file and use Open With rather than Open. If you do this, you will be able to choose which app you open with, without changing your regular assignment.
