Aerosoft vs UK2000 Heathrow

Featured Replies

This thread should be sending shivers down Aerosofts spine! On your glowing recommendations I think I'm going to invest in all of the UK2000 sceneries. They make my local airport too which is great!

Well I have Aerosoft Heathrow, and dont have frame rate problems with it. But I only recently discovered UK2000 and have bought Bristol;Manchester;Gatwick and Stanstead. All very good. Highly recommended.Peter

You won't regret that decision. Gary's work is top class.

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

IMHO the UK2000 version of Heathrow is better.

Hmmm, that's all rather annoying 'cos I have the Aerosoft version and have used 5 credits to 'AES' it. If I bought the UK2000 version I'd lose that plus the price of the UK2000 on top. Maybe someone who has seen both might elaborate as to why UK2000 is better?? (I set fps to 36fps max and get that at Aerosoft EGLL too, even with 90% traffic). :)Martin

The first and foremost reason is that the UK2000 version represents Heathrow in it's current state, unlike the Aerosoft one which is based on the airport circa 2004. A lot has changed. Other than that, performance, detail in lighting textures and moddelling is all far better. No need to take anyone else's opinion though; just download the demo and see for yourself.

I just recently purchased the UK2000 Heathrow Xtreme v2 and its very good. Although I do not have the Aerosoft version of Heathrow, I do own their Munich, Amsterdam, Paris Olgy software packages. Although Munich is my current favorite, I would reinvest in the purchase any of the four again. The Heathrow package is so new to my sim that I have only made a couple of take offs and landing with the airport. The other night, flying a GA aircraft, I landed on 9L at Heathrow. Although I was flying a GA I asked for parking at the gate and was assigned a spot just east of Terminal 4. The routing to my gate allowed me to see much of the airport as I traveled to my assigned gate. My first impressions of the UK2000 package are very positive.I also picked up their free versions of Gatwick and Glasgow. I make one purchase of an addon a month. After seeeing three example of their work I plan on purchasing their full Gatwick package next month.Tom

Hi,I have Aerosoft`s Heathrow and I found I suffered a frame rate hit, fluctuating beteen 10 and 16 fps. Having bought UK 2000 Extreme (and subsequently all of their airports) Aerosoft has been relegated to the external HD ! I get 29.9 fps, maxed at 30 fps. with Heathrow and Gatwick Extreme.Dave

Well, I reckon all things considered I'll stick with Aerosoft EGLL for now - I get good frame rates there as I said, and having added AES already, it's going to be a bit of an unwanted expense to change now. May have a look at the UK2000 demo though - I have several of their other airports including Gatwick v3, and they are certainly excellent.Martin

I now have airport packages that were developed by Fly Tampa, BluePrint Simulation, Aerosoft, UK2000 and various freewate authors. With AI traffic set to 80% my framerates stay at my sim max of 35 FPS. I also have detailed clouds set at their max and they can be somewhat more of a problem on a highly overcast day than any of the airports. I think that one of the keys surrounding any of any of the more detailed airport packages is to find a framwrate that your system can handle and leave it as your operating baseline. Also, one of the things that used to slow my sim was the scenery.cfg file being out of order or missed numbered. There is a program available on this site that is capable of "cleaning up", your scenery.cfg file. I am not certain of the name of the download, but the name of the executable is FSTscenery.exe. This fix also shorts the sims load time once you select your flight.Tom

I would choose UK2000 w/o any reservations. It looks great, offers high fps, and UK2000 is a great company to deal with.
