Lineup and Wait

Featured Replies

Now that US ATC Tower personnel use the terminology "Line up and Wait" in place of "Taxi into position and hold", will RC5 make this change for US flights? Thanks.

jdThanks for the info, but I'm stuck. I know how to copy and paste a file to another folder, but what are the mechanics of copying the contents of one FILE to another FILE located within the same folder? I'm using windows 7. Thanks.Bob

I think this is what jd means:-do a copy of the file lineup.wav-rename your original taxipos.wav-now rename your copy of lineup.wav to taxipos.wavThis way when RC tries to play the the file named taxipos.wav, you will hear "line up and wait" instead of "taxi into position and hold".

I did this and it has mostly worked. However one or two pilots, Brett Delana being one, did not record "lineup and wait" so they cannot be converted. The only solution, when flying in North America, is to de-select those voices. A pity because it reduces the number of different voices available.Iain Smith

This is to be expected. Some people are morbidly adverse to change. Controllers are no exception... :()Phil

Another option would be copying the command of one of the existing voices to the missing voice file. (Preferably one that sounds similar if possible) It may make that instruction sound a little weird, but at least you won't have to disable the voice.

Thanks

Yes that did occur to me as a possibility. Now you've mentioned it, I'll trawl through the American voices and find the closest. Thanks for the response.Iain Smith

One other thing I was wondering. For V5, I assume Line Up and Wait will be the norm. If we want to, would we be able to revert back to Taxi Into Position and Hold. I don't like change either and want to stay with Taxi Into Position and Hold in V5.JimCYWG

Jim,I very much doubt it. RC is all about realistic ATC so it would be odd to allow users to pick and choose which commands they wanted to change. When it comes to recording the phrases for v5 I doubt we will include TIPAH but as with all these things JD is the final arbiter. But he is guided by r/w ATC people so perhaps that gives you the answer.
